Just trucking along with another gatefold card design today! And I have 4 different ways you can use this design in your card making. Now, these fun fold card ideas are similar to the I recently gatefold cards I shared in that they have unequal panels. However, the measurements for the creating the card base are different.
Creating the Card Base
First let’s talk about how to create the base of this gatefold card. It’s basically a traditional gatefold style of card, the only difference is that the score line is off-set. On a traditional gatefold card, the score lines are such that the gatefold sections are equal. For an offset card, we will simply make the gatefold sections different sizes.
To create this style of a gatefold card, start with a 4-1/4 x 11 inch piece of cardstock. Score the 11 inch side at 1-1/2 and 7 inches. You might recall that the card base for the other off-set gatefold cards, recently shared, uses a 5-1/2 x 8-1/2 inch piece of cardstock. You can view the other gatefold card ideas HERE. The two different sizes of cardstock create two completely different looks for the gatefold card.
Trucking Along Bundle
Now let’s talk about the fun new product bundle used to create these rustic style Christmas cards. The bundle is called Trucking Along and it includes a stamp set and a Truck Builder Punch. In the video I demonstrate how to create the truck. It makes a fabulous focal point for each of the cards! The Trucking Along Bundle is one of the many different Online Exclusives from Stampin’ Up! This means that you will only find the bundle online; it’s not in any catalog. You can browse the selection of online exclusives HERE.
As with many card designs, you can easily change the look of the card simply by changing the orientation. The first two cards feature a landscape style gatefold. The last two cards showcase this design in portrait style. The card base measurements are exactly the same for all 4 cards. Simply decide which orientation style you prefer and then decorate the card.
