Meandering Meadows
First let’s talk about the Meandering Meadows Designer Series Paper (DSP). Sometimes when you find a pretty paper pack it’s hard to cut it up, right? Well, that’s exactly what I thought when I saw the papers from the Meandering Meadows Designer Series Paper (DSP). Each of the 48 sheets of paper in this pack have just beautiful scenic designs. There are so many different ways you can cut them up to use in card making and we will look at a few different ways today.
The first way to use this beautiful paper is to cut a 4 x 5-1/4 inch piece of one of the scenes and adhere it to a card front. The paper really does all the work, so you just need to add a greeting and many a few embellishments. You can also add a little interest by creating a few panels for the card front. The second card does just that! Simply cut a 3-1/2 x 5-1/4 inch piece of one of the scenes. Place the paper back in your paper trimmer and cut a 1-inch and 1-1/2 inch strip (cutting from left to right). Lay the strips across a card front to create the illusion of looking through a windowpane. Super simple yet stunning!
Z-Fold Card
Another way to showcase this beautiful paper is to create a simple z-fold style card. To create the z-fold card base, cut a 5-1/2 x 8-1/2 inch piece of cardstock. Score down the 8-1/2 inch side at 2-1/8 and 4-1/4 inches. Fold the 2-1/8 inch section back onto itself to create the z-fold design.
Create the panels for the z-fold by cutting one 6 x 6 inch piece of DSP. You will be using up an entire sheet of DSP for this fun fold card. Yay! Start by cutting 3/4 inches off the bottom of one of the 6 x 6 inch sheets of DSP. Now take the 6 x 5-1/4 inch piece of DSP and two pieces at 1-7/8 inches. You will end up with two pieces measuring 1-7/8 x 5-1/4 inches and one piece measuring 2-1/4 x 5-1/4 inches. Adhere them across the z-fold panels as shown. Add a 1-3/4 x 5-1/4 inch piece of vanilla cardstock on the inside of the card.
2 Card One Sheet Wonder
The next couple of card ideas feature one 6 x 6 inch sheet of the Meandering Meadows DSP. Yes, you can use up an entire sheet of this beautiful paper to create two cards! Start by cutting 1/2 inch off the bottom of the 6 x 6 inch sheet. Note: You can use the 1/2-inch scrap piece to decorate the inside of one of the cards. Now take the 6 x 5-1/2 inch piece and cut the 6-inch side in half at 3 inches. You will end up with two pieces measuring 3 x 5-1/2 inches which you can use to create these two cards.
The first card is a simple fancy fold. Start with a standard size card base and cut off a 1-inch strip from the right side of the card front. Save this piece for the second card! Once you cut off the 1-inch strip, add the 3 x 5-1/2 inch piece of DSP to the left side of the card front. I did a little partial embossing on the right side of the inside of the card. The embossing shows through to the front of the card when closed.
The second card features one of the 3 x 5-1/2 inch pieces of DSP adhered to the right side of the card front. Take the 1 x 5-1/2 inch scrap piece of Mossy Meadow cardstock (leftover from creating the first card) emboss it and adhere it to the left side of the card. Finish it off with a little 1/4 x 5-1/4 inch strip of Early Espresso cardstock.
Garden Meadows Bundle
The last couple of card ideas feature the window die from the Garden Meadow Bundle. This die creates such a lovely window design on the card. Start by creating the window on a 4 x 5-1/4 inch piece of cardstock. Cut a piece of the Meandering Meadows DSP to a little less than 4 x 5-1/4 inches and adhere it to the card front. Then adhere the 4 x 5-1/4 inch piece of cardstock, with the die cut window, over the DSP. Pop up the cardstock with a few stampin’ dimensionals to add more depth to the card.
Of course, you can also create little 1-inch panel strips to use behind the die cut window design. The panel card design features the same 4 x 5-1/4 inch piece of cardstock, with the die cut window, as the first card. However, instead of adhering a full piece of DSP, I simply added the 1-inch strips. I love this look as is truly gives the illusion of looking through a window.
The last card idea features a raised window design. Simply use the Garden Meadow window die to cut the scene directly from a piece of the DSP. Pop up the DSP on the card front with a few stampin’ dimensionals.
