Learn how to create a twisted easel fun fold card. This card is actually two fun folds rolled into one! First create the book binding fun fold card and then add the twist! The cards feature the Sending Cheer Bundle from Stampin’ Up! However, keep in mind you can use any stamp set or supplies you have on hand with this fun fold design.
Twisted Easel Design
First let’s talk about twisted easel fun fold card design. Since this card features two fun folds rolled into one, you have to first create the Book Binding Fun Fold section of the card. Start with a piece of cardstock cut to 4-1/4 x 11 inches. Score the 11-inch side at 4-1/4 and 5-1/2 inches to create the base of the card. The section between the 4-1/4 and 5-1/2 inch score lines will be adhered down to the inside of the card. However, in order to create the twisted easel section, don’t adhere this part down just yet.
Take the scored 4-1/4 x 11-inch piece of cardstock and place it in your paper trimmer. Score the 4-1/4 x 4-1/4 inch section of the card base diagonally. Score diagonally from the bottom of the 4-1/4 inch score line to the top right corner of the card base. Once you have created the diagonal score line, you can adhere the book binding section down to the card. Be sure to watch the video HERE to see the creation of the card base in action!
Decorate the card with any die cut shapes and papers you want! For this card, I used the adorable little gingerbread man from the Sending Cheer Bundle. Notice that I also have a gingerbread man adhered to the inside of the card. This enables the twisted easel portion of the card to rest on the gingerbread man while it’s on display! The card will also lay flat for ease in mailing.
Sending Cheer Designs
Now that you know how to create the Twisted Easel Fun Fold card, the possibilities are endless! I had so much fun with this card design and the Sending Cheer Bundle, that I just had to create a few more Christmas fun fold cards.
To create the Santa Hat card, start by creating the Twisted Easel card base from a piece of Cherry Cobbler cardstock. The measurements for the card base are exactly the same as described earlier in this post; I simply changed the color. Once you create the card base, then simply decorate it with any die cut shapes you want! The Santa hat is the focal point on the front of the card. And a second Santa Hat serves as the resting point for the card front when it’s in the twisted easel position.
The last twisted easel card idea features the stocking from the Sending Cheer Bundle. The easel section of the card is resting upon the greeting which is placed on the inside of the card. The stocking shape was too big to serve as the resting point for the easel. However, the small oval greeting worked perfectly!
