Let’s play around with the Patchwork Pieces Dies. There are so many fun things you can create with this die set. And I have three different card layouts to share using just one of the dies in this set. The cards also feature a variety of products from the Earthen Elegance Suite from Stampin’ Up! However, keep in mind you can use any supplies you have on hand with the Patchwork Pieces die set.
Patchwork Pieces Dies
First let’s talk about the Patchwork Pieces die set. This particular set comes with two different patchwork style dies. For the cards I am sharing today, I only used one of the dies to create all 6 of the cards. The other die looks just as fun! You can learn more about this die set HERE.
To create the cards, simply choose three different papers. First, I chose two of the Earthen Elegance Designer Series Paper patterns. Since these papers are a little busy and dark in color, I decided to emboss some very vanilla cardstock. The vanilla cardstock helps break up the brown colors and really accents everything nicely! Simply emboss the vanilla cardstock with your favorite embossing folder before using the Patchwork Pieces die (Note: I used the Timeworn Type 3D Embossing Folder).
The die cuts out 6 different pieces from each paper. Once you have the Patchwork Pieces cut out, then shuffle them around so you end up with two of each of the three different patterns together. You can see two of the layouts in the second picture. Each layout has two of each of the three different papers.
Simple Card Layout
Now that you know how to use one of the dies to cut out the Patchwork Pieces, let’s talk about the three different designs. This first design showcases all the pieces adhered directly next to each other to create a rectangular-shaped background.
All the pieces fit perfectly together so you simply need to adhere them in the center of the card front or on a 3-1/2 x 5 inch piece of cardstock. I prefer to matte out the pieces on cardstock first. However, both ways will be beautiful! Plus, you can use any colors! The first card features Misty Moonlight and Pecan Pie. The second features Pecan Pie and Early Espresso. I love them both but the blue and brown together is my favorite. Which one is your favorite?
Portrait Style
The second way you can use the Patchwork Pieces to create a fun background is to separate them instead of adhering them together. For them two cards, I adhered each of the 6 Patchwork Pieces flush with the edge of the card front. This gives the card such a cool look because the color of the card base peeks through in between each of the pieces.
Once you have adhered all the pieces to the card front, then simply add a little greeting and a focal point. The cards feature a variety of fun products from the Earthen Elegance Suite. However, keep in mind you can use any papers or stamp sets to decorate your cards.
Landscape Style
The last two card ideas feature the exact same design as the previous two cards. The only difference is that I adhered the Patchwork Pieces to a landscape style card front instead of a portrait style. Yes, you can change the orientation of your card to give it a whole new look!

Hi Claire, the best way to view everything is to click on the blog post link in the email that is sent when I publish the blog post. The blog post itself contains unaltered information. When the post comes via email, your email provider automatically removes pictures and videos as they are too large to be sent via email. I hope that helps. The cards look great!
