Seasonal Branches Card Ideas

Today I have a variety of card ideas to share which feature the Seasonal Branches Bundle from Stampin’ Up! These cards were inspired by the leftover scraps I had on hand from playing around with the Watercolor Stamping Technique! If you haven’t seen this technique, be sure to get all the details HERE.

Simple Card Ideas

The first couple of card ideas feature some very simple layouts which you can really use with any supplies you have on hand. I am using some of the leftover pieces of paper from my watercolor stamping. However, you can easily use patterned paper instead of watercoloring for the background pieces. The colors scheme for the cards includes Soft Sea Foam, Lost Lagoon and Crumb Cake. The layout for the first card features a 1-1/2 x 5-1/2 inch piece of Lost Lagoon cardstock and a 1-3/4 x 5 inch piece of the watercolor paper. The images from the Seasonal Branches Bundle make up the rest of the card.

The second card layout showcases a great way to use up scraps! Start with a 1 x 4-1/4 inch piece of Crumb Cake cardstock. Tear it in half so you end up with two torn pieces measuring 4-1/4 inches in length. Adhere one of the torn pieces to the left side of the card front. Cut a 1/2 x 4-1/4 inch piece of Lost Lagoon cardstock and adhere it to the torn piece as shown. The watercolor paper piece measures 2-1/2 x 3-3/4 inches. You can also tuck a little 2-1/4 x 1 inch piece of scrap vellum behind the watercolor paper to add more layers. Each card features the same focal point created with the Seasonal Branches Bundle.

Seasonal Branches

Let’s talk a little bit about the Seasonal Branches Bundle. The focal point for each of these cards is exactly the same. Start by cutting out the branch from a piece of Crumb Cake cardstock using the die from the set. Stamp the leaves on a scrap piece of vanilla cardstock using Soft Sea Foam ink. Cut out the leaves with the coordinating die from the bundle. Be sure to watch the video for some tips on adhering the branch and leaves together. To create the bird, stamp it on a scrap piece of vanilla cardstock using Early Espresso ink. Color in the image with crumb cake, soft sea foam and lost lagoon stampin’ blends (or your favorite coloring tools). Cut out the bird with the coordinating die from the bundle.

Once you have the focal point created, it’s easy to change up the look of the card simply by changing the layout. The first card pictured here features a 5 x 3-3/4 inch piece of Lost Lagoon cardstock. The crumb cake cardstock is simply a 1 x 3-3/4 inch piece torn in half. The watercolor paper is 2-1/2 x 3-3/4 inches.

The last card layout features the same sized Lost Lagoon cardstock piece, I simply off set it on the card front. Add a 3-1/4 x 5 inch piece of the watercolor paper (or DSP) and then add the focal point. I loved how the cards turned out and I am super excited to have used up all my scraps!

Now you have 4 different card layouts you can use with the Seasonal Branches Bundle! Keep in mind that you can also substitute patterned paper for the watercolor paper for even more fun ways to use these card layouts. Be sure to watch the video to see the creation of a few of these cards in action. Have a fun and creative day! ~ Lynn
