Lighting the Way Card Ideas

Let’s play around with the Lighting the Way stamp set and dies today! And I have 3 different cards ideas to share with you. I will also give you a sneak peek of the 6 cards I created for my August tutorial! 

Simple Card Designs

The first couple of card ideas featuring some simple layouts. You can use these designs with the Lighting the Way stamp and dies or any other supplies you have on hand. I really love the Granny Apple Green, Daffodil Delight and Early Espresso color combo. As such, this is the combo I am using for all three cards. I am also using one of the patterned papers from the Delightfully Eclectic Designer Series Paper.

The first layout features a 1-1/4 x 5-1/2 inch piece of DSP and a 2-3/4 x 4 inch piece of white cardstock. The card comes to life when you add the lantern and other die cut shapes! The second card layout features a 1/4 x 5-1/2 inch piece of Early Espresso cardstock and a 1-1/2 x 4-1/2 inch piece of the yellow DSP. I also snuck in a 3/4 x 5-1/2 inch piece of one of the Stargazing DSP patterns (the green piece). The focal point features a 2-1/4 x 3-1/2 inch piece of white cardstock with a 2-1/2 x 3-3/4 inch Granny Apple Green matte. And, of course, a little 3 x 2-1/2 inch piece of vellum to finish off the layers.

To achieve the “light” in the lantern, I simply added a bit of Daffodil Delight to the white cardstock using a blending brush. Such a super simple effect!

Lighting the Way Tutorial

The last card idea features some simple stamping and die cut embellishments. Start with a 5 x 3-3/4 inch piece of white cardstock. Stamp the leaves across the bottom of the cardstock using Granny Apple Green ink. Take a blending brush to add a bit more green around the leaves. Cut a 4 x 5-1/4 inch piece of Granny Apple Green cardstock. Adhere the white and green cardstock pieces together and then adhere them to the card front.

I had so much fun creating the first three cards, that I decided to use the Lighting the Way stamp set and dies to create cards for my monthly tutorial. The August tutorial features 6 cards created with this set. I also used the Stargazing DSP to create some blue and purple backgrounds.
