Learn how to use the cut and shuffle technique to make 2 masculine card layouts at once! The cards feature the Legendary Ride Bundle and the Ready to Ride Designer Series Paper from Stampin’ Up! However, this diagonal design can be used with any patterned paper or supplies you have on hand.
Cutting the Diagonal Design
First let’s talk about creating the diagonal design. Start by choosing two pieces of patterned paper which coordinate well together. For these cards, I am using two pieces of the Ready to Ride Designer Series Paper. Cut the papers to 3-3/4 x 5 inches. Place both of the 3-3/4 x 5 inch pieces of patterned paper in your paper trimmer. You will be cutting both at the same time.
Line up the upper right and lower left corners of the paper in the groove of your paper trimmer. Make a diagonal cut from corner to corner. Turn the papers and line up the upper left and lower right corners of the paper in the groove of your paper trimmer. Make another diagonal cut from corner to corner. You are basically cutting an “X” into the 3-3/4 x 5 inch pieces of paper to create the diagonal design.
Creating the Cards
Once you have cut the diagonal design, you are ready to create the cards! Since I used two different double-sided pieces of DSP, I am able to shuffle and flip the pieces around to create two different cards. The pieces used for the second card are the reverse side of the pieces used for the first card.
Start with a 4 x 5-1/4 inch piece of very vanilla cardstock. Adhere the diagonal cut pieces to the vanilla cardstock. Create a standard size card base and adhere the vanilla cardstock to the card front. The focal point features a square shape cut using the Stylish Shapes dies. You can create any focal point with this diagonal design. Plus, you can use any patterned papers and supplies to create cards for any occasion.
