Double Fun Fold Cards – 2 Ways

Learn how to create two fun fold sections on one card!  This double fun fold card features an accordion fold section and a front flap fun fold section. It’s super simple to make and I have two different ways you can use this design in your card making.

The cards feature the Playing in the Rain Bundle from Stampin’ Up! along with other fun products from the Rain or Shine Collection. However, keep in mind that you can use any supplies you have on hand with this fun fold design.

Creating the Double Fun Fold

The double fun fold design features an accordion fold section and a front flap fun fold section. Two fun folds all rolled into one card! First let’s talk about how to create the accordion fold section. Start with a 4-1/4 x 11 inch piece of cardstock. Score the 11-inch side at 1-1/4, 1-3/4, 2-3/4, 8-1/4, 9-1/4 and 9-3/4 inches to create the accordion section on each side of the base of the card. Accordion fold on the score lines to create a little fun fold section on each side of the card base. The card actually folds down into a standard 5-1/2 x 4-1/4 inch size.

Next, let’s create the second fun fold section. Cut a 1-3/4 x 8-1/2 inch piece of white cardstock. Score the 8-1/2 inch side at 4-1/4 inches. Adhere this small fun fold section in the center of the card base in between the accordion folds.

That’s it! You have now created the double fun fold card base. So you are ready to decorate it! These cards feature products from the Rain or Shine Collection. However, you can decorate the cards with any supplies you have on hand!

Alternate Design

Now let’s use the exact same card base to create a little modified version of the double fun fold card. For these next two card ideas, I simply created the accordion fold sections and the front flap as described above. However, I after folding up the accordion sections, I simply adhered them to the card base with a few dimensionals. That means the accordion fold sections simply create two raised panels on the card which provide depth and dimension as they do not open. The white front flap, in the middle of the card base, is the only section that opens.

Basically, you can create a double fun fold style where you have two interactive folds on the card. Or you can create this style of card where only one section is interactive. Both card designs feature the exact same measurements for the card base. Super fun! I love to provide options for card designs!
