Learn how show off both sides of your pretty patterned papers with this super simple fun fold birthday card design. And I have two different ways you can use this fun fold design in your card making. The cards feature the NEW Share A Milkshake Bundle from Stampin’ Up! However, keep in mind that you can use any supplies you have on hand to create this fun fold card.
Fun Fold Birthday Card – Portrait Style
First let’s talk about how to create the base of the fun fold card. This particular card has two fun fold parts. It’s what is commonly referred to as an overlapping fun fold card. Start by cutting a 5-1/2 x 4-1/4 inch piece of Fresh Freesia cardstock. Next, cut a 5-1/2 x 5-1/2 inch piece of patterned paper. Score it at 1-3/4 inches. Adhere to the center of the Fresh Freesia card base as shown.
Once you have the patterned paper section of the fun fold completed, you are ready to move on to the smaller, overlapping flap/section of the fun fold. Start by cutting a 5-1/2 x 4-1/4 inch piece of Fresh Freesia cardstock. Score the 5-1/2 inch side of the cardstock, in half, at 2-3/4 inches. Adhere to the center of the inside of the card as shown. The flap of the cardstock will overlap onto the flap of the patterned paper to create the fun fold section. Now you are ready to decorate the card with any supplies you have on hand.
Landscape Style
Of course, you can also create this fun fold card in landscape style! The cool thing about this style of card is that you do not have to change any of the measurements for the card base. You simply create the card base and fun fold sections as described above. The only thing you need to do is decide if you will decorate the card in portrait or landscape style.
