Let’s play around with a One Sheet Wonder for Gift Cards! Learn how to cut up a 12 x 12 inch piece of patterned paper to create 4 cards! You will be able to make two gift card holders and two standard cards from one sheet of paper! Super fun!
One Sheet Wonder Template
First let’s talk about the template for this One Sheet Wonder. Start by choosing a 12 x 12 inch piece of patterned paper. You can use any patterned paper you have on hand. Cut two pieces of patterned paper at 5-1/4 x 12 inches. You will be able to make two gift cards from one 12 x 12 inch piece of patterned paper. You will have a 1-1/2 x 12 inch piece of patterned paper leftover which we will use for the second card.
Place one of the 5-1/4 x 12 inch pieces of patterned paper in your paper trimmer. Score the 12 inch side at 4 and 8 inches. Place the first 4-inch section back in your paper trimmer. Make a diagonal cut from the top right score line to the bottom left corner of that 4-inch section. Save the triangular piece for the next card. The diagonal section will be secured to the inside of the card, as shown above, to form the pocket for the gift card. Be sure to watch the video to get all the decorating details and to see the creation of this card in action!
Using Up the Scraps
Once you have created the gift card holders, you are ready to use up the scraps from this One Sheet Wonder. Start with a 5-1/2 x 8-1/2 inch piece of Real Red cardstock. Score the 8-1/2 inch side at 4-1/4 inches to create the base of the card. Adhere the triangular piece to the card front as shown. This triangular piece was left over from creating the gift card holder. Create the focal point for your card with any supplies you have on hand.
For the inside of the card, start with a 4 x 5-1/4 inch piece of white cardstock. You can cut up the left over 1-1/2 x 12 inch piece of patterned paper to decorate the inside of the cards. Cut a 3/4 x 5 inch piece and adhere to the inside of the card. Since you can make two of these cards, you will be able to use up some of the patterned paper to decorate the inside of the cards. Use the remaining paper, from the 1-1/2 x 12 inch piece to decorate the envelopes. This means you won’t have any leftover scraps!
Alternate Template
Now the fun thing about this One Sheet Wonder template is that you can adjust the length of the card to make it a bit larger. For these cards, I cut a 5-1/2 x 12 inch piece of patterned paper. Yes, this card is 1/4 inch longer than the gift card holder featured above. It measures 5-1/2 x 4 inches when closed. The first gift card holder measures 5-1/4 x 4 inches when closed.
Now if you just want to use up all the patterned paper, then start with a 6 x 12 inch piece. You will still score the 12 inch side at 4 and 8 inches to create the gift card holder. However, the card will measure 6 x 4 inches when closed. As you can see, there are lots of possibilities with this One Sheet Wonder.

All of them are very pretty. I especially love the diagonal cut ones. They seem to give the card more movement. And who doesn’t love to use up scraps?
Thank you Wanda! I love to use up my scraps right away.
