Learn how to make a Double Flap Fun Fold Christmas card! It’s super simple and fun to make! And I have two different ways you can use this fun fold design in your card making. The cards feature the products from the NEW Fitting Florets Collection from Stampin’ Up! However, keep in mind that you can use any supplies you have on hand to create these fun fold cards.
Creating the Double Flap
First let’s talk about how to create the base of the double flap fun fold card. Start with a 5-1/2 x 4-1/4 inch piece of Evening Evergreen cardstock. Next, cut a 5-1/2 x 8-1/2 inch piece of Evening Evergreen cardstock. Score the 8-1/2 inch side at 4-1/4 inch to create a standard card base. Now place that card base in your paper trimmer so the 5-1/2 inch side, with the fold, is at the top of your paper trimmer. Line up the edge of the card at 4 inches and make the cut. You will end up with two folded pieces of cardstock which we will use to create the double flaps for this fun fold card.
The folded pieces of cardstock measure 1-1/2 x 4-1/4 inches and 4 x 4-1/4 inches when closed. Adhere the smaller piece to the center of the left side of the card base. I recommend decorating the left side of the card base with a bit of patterned paper before adhering the 4 x 4-1/4 inch section to the card base. Be sure to watch the video to see the creation of the card base action!
The front flap of this particular card is the 4 x 4-1/4 inch section on the right side of the card base. When you lift up the front flap, it exposes the second flap. The second flap of this card is smaller and is tucked inside of the card. The small flap is perfect for adhering ovals or any other shape.
Alternate Layout
The cool thing about this Double Flap Christmas card idea is that the small flap can be used on either the inside or outside of larger flap. The first card, above, features the small flap tucked inside the larger flap. This particular design showcases the small flap as the focal point for card as it rests onto of the larger flap.
The measurements for the card base are exactly the same. The only difference between these two cards is how they are decorated. There are so many possibilities for this card design so get creative with it! For more fun fold card ideas like these, check out my triangle double flap fun folds HERE.
