October 2022 Paper Pumpkin Alternate Cards

Today I have 8 different card ideas to share featuring the October 2022 Paper Pumpkin Kit called HoHoHo. The kit contains all the materials you need to create 9 adorable Christmas cards. The cards were so adorable that I decided not to play around the kit pieces. However, I did use the exclusive stamp set from the kit, to create all the cards I have to share with you today.

Paper Pumpkin Cards

The October 2022 Paper Pumpkin kit contains all the supplies you need to create 9 adorable cards. The name of the kit is “Ho Ho Ho” so it focuses on Santa! Yay! Each Paper Pumpkin kit includes an exclusive stamp set, an ink spot and a variety of supplies to create the projects.

October 2022 Paper Pumpkin Alternate Cards

The stamp set in the October 2022 Paper Pumpkin kit features 12 different images you can use to make the kit projects and, of course, use for additional card making. The Santa image in the stamp set is super adorable and became the focus for all the alternate cards I have to share with you today.

Santa Cards

The first couple of alternate card ideas feature one of my favorite Christmas card designs…Santa’s Suit and Belt! If you are looking for some quick and simple Christmas card ideas, you definitely want to learn how to make these. I have an older video featuring some easy Santa and Elf suit card designs you can make with very little supplies. Get all the details HERE.

The next set of cards continue with the Santa Suite and Belt theme. However, I changed them up a bit by using the Santa stamp image to create a fun background on the cards. The first one showcases the Santa belt idea. The second card replaced the belt with a Christmas greeting. The Santas are colored with Real Red, Flirty Flamingo and Ivory stampin’ blends. Super simple and fun little cards to make!

Traditional Christmas Colors

The next set of cards focus on traditional Christmas colors: red and green. I really am stuck on the little Santa image from the October 2022 Paper Pumpkin stamp set. I think the image is so stinkin’ cute! To create the first card, start with a piece of Real Red cardstock for the base of your card. Emboss the card front with your favorite embossing folder. Cut a 4-1/4 x 2-1/2 inch piece of the Santa Express Designer Series Paper (DSP) and adhere it across the center of the card front. Add a 2-1/2 x 4 inch piece of vellum to the card front. Stamp the Santa image, using Early Espresso ink, on 2-1/4 x 2-1/4 inch square and color it in with stampin’ blends (or your favorite coloring tools). Embellish as desired.

The second card showcases a great way to use up scraps! The scraps are leftover pieces from the Santa Express DSP. Start with a piece of white cardstock for the base of the card. Add a 4 x 5-1/4 inch piece of Shaded Spruce and a 3-3/4 x 5 inch piece of white cardstock. The scraps on the left side of the card measure 2 x 3-/4 and 2 x 3-3/4 inches. The scraps on the right side of the card measure 1-3/8 x 2-1/4 inches. Add a little Santa for the focal point and a greeting stamped on a 1/2 x 3-3/4 inch piece of white cardstock. Super cute and a great way to use up scraps.

Non-Traditional Christmas Colors

The last two card ideas feature some non-traditional Christmas colors. The inspiration for this color combination came from the cards featured in the October 2022 Paper Pumpkin kit. Start with a piece of crumb cake cardstock for the base of the card. Cut a 1-1/2 x 4-3/4 inch piece of DSP and adhere it to the left side of the card front. Next, cut a 2 x 4 inch piece of crumb cake cardstock and emboss it with the Merry Melody embossing folder. Adhere the embossed cardstock to a 2-1/4 x 4-1/4 inch piece of Early Espresso cardstock. Stamp a greeting and the Santa image on a 1-3/4 x 3-1/8 inch white rectangular shape using Early Espresso ink. Color in the image with your favorite coloring tools. Add a 2-1/2 x 2 inch piece of vellum behind the rectangular shape and adhere all the pieces to the card front.

To create the second card, start by embossing the card front with the Merry Melody embossing folder. Add a 1/4 x 5-1/2 inch piece of Early Espresso cardstock to the left side of the card front. Cut a 2 x 5-1/2 inch piece of DSP and add it next to the Early Espresso cardstock. Add a 2 x 4 inch piece of vellum to the center of the card front. Create the Santa focal point and embellish as desired.

Video Tutorial

As you can see, there are a variety of different things you can create with the stamp set and materials in each Paper Pumpkin kit! However, you must subscribe to the program by the 10th of each month in order to receive that month’s kit. Once the deadline passes, the kits are no longer available. So, I highly recommend becoming a subscriber, so you don’t miss out on the fun! Learn more about the monthly Paper Pumpkin kit program HERE. Check out some of the past paper pumpkin kits HERE.

Be sure to watch the video for some tips on creating these cards. Have a fun and creative day my friends! ~ Lynn

  1. These alternative cards are great, especially since you can just use the stamps from the Paper pumpkin to make as many cards as you want. Thanks for the inspiration. Can’t wait to CASE them!
