Today I have 8 different card ideas to share featuring the September 2022 Paper Pumpkin Kit called Spooky Treats. The kit contains all the materials you need to create 18 adorable treat boxes. However, I decided to create a variety of cards featuring the exclusive stamp set and some of the treat box materials from the kit.
Paper Pumpkin Spooky Treats
The September 2022 Paper Pumpkin kit contains all the materials you need to make 18 adorable Halloween treat boxes. Knowing that my granddaughter would love this kit, I decided to order two. She created all of the treat boxes from her kit and 6 from my kit. She made a total of 24 treat boxes for her friends and teacher at school. And, of course, she made one for herself. 🙂
Each Paper Pumpkin kit includes an exclusive stamp set, an ink spot and a variety of supplies to create the projects. The stamp set in the September 2022 Paper Pumpkin kit features 8 different images you can use to make the kit projects and, of course, use for additional card making. The alternative card ideas I have to share today feature the exclusive stamp set, a few of my own supplies and materials from the kit.
Spider Web Card Ideas
The first two card ideas feature the spider web which is die cut directly into the cover for some of the treat boxes. I simply cut the spider web design out of the treat box cover. The spider web measures approximately 2-3/4 x 3 inches. Add a piece of pumpkin pie cardstock behind the spider web. Matte out the web using a 3 x 3-1/4 inch piece of cardstock. I used Crushed Curry for the matte for the first card and black cardstock for the second card.
Cut up one of the other treat box tops (the one with the plaid pattern) so that you can use the pieces as patterned paper on your cards. The first card features two 1 x 2-3/4 inch pieces of the plaid patterned paper on each side of the card. Once those pieces are set, add the spider web focal point and decorate as desired.
The second card idea features a panel style design. Start with a piece of black cardstock for the base of the card. Cut a 5 x 3-3/4 inch piece of Fresh Freesia cardstock. Create the focal point as described earlier. The side panels feature two 1/2 x 3 inch pieces of the plaid patterned paper. The plaid paper is matted out on a 3/4 x 3-1/4 inch piece of black cardstock.
Spooky White Card Ideas
The next set of cards feature the use of some white craft ink. Simply ink up the bat image with white craft ink and stamp a fun frame around the outside of the card front. The white craft ink looks spooky cool on the black cardstock. Add a 2 x 3 inch piece of vellum and then use up a few pieces of scraps from the kit to create the Halloween focal point.
The second card idea features the ghost image randomly stamped across the black card front using the white craft ink. Add one of the left-over ghost images and a greeting, from the kit to the card front. Don’t have any ghost cut outs left? No worries! You can also create your own ghost image. Stamp the ghost on a scrap piece of white cardstock using Fresh Freesia ink. The color in the eyes and mouth using a black marker. Cut out the image with a scissors and adhere to the card front.
Using Up Scraps
The last four card ideas were inspired by all of the scraps I had left from the September 2022 Paper Pumpkin kit. I love using up my scraps right away so that I do not have to store any of them. The first card features all the following scrap pieces:
- 1-3/4 x 3 inch piece of Plaid Paper
- 2 x 2-1/2 inch piece of white cardstock. Stamp the Ghost on this piece using Fresh Freesia ink and color in the eyes with a black marker.
- 1/2 x 2 inch piece of Crushed Curry piece under the Ghost
- 1/2 x 4 inch piece of Fresh Freesia cardstock. Stamp the greeting on this piece.
- The bottom section consists of two pieces of Crushed Curry cardstock measuring 3/4 x 1-1/2 inch and a 2-1/4 x 1-1/2 inch piece of pumpkin pie cardstock. Stamp the spider images on the pumpkin pie cardstock using black ink.
Once you have all the pieces cut and stamped, then simply arrange them on the card front as shown.
The second card design should look familiar to you if you have been following my weekly card ideas. I have used this scrappy strip design with a variety of different stamp sets and supplies. I featured this layout on one of my Apple Harvest cards. You can also check out this layout with a card featuring This Birthday Piggy Bundle. And my most recent card idea showcases this design with the Trimming the Tree Bundle. It’s super simple and very versatile.
The last two card ideas feature some of the leftover scrap pieces from the kit. I recommend playing around with your scraps to create a fun little background for your cards. Often times I simply layer together the different size scraps I have until I find a layout I like. Give it a try with the scraps you have on hand!
Video Tutorial
As you can see, there are a variety of different things you can create with the stamp set and materials in each Paper Pumpkin kit! However, you must subscribe to the program by the 10th of each month in order to receive that month’s kit. Once the deadline passes, the kits are no longer available. So, I highly recommend becoming a subscriber, so you don’t miss out on the fun! Learn more about the monthly Paper Pumpkin kit program HERE. Check out some of the past paper pumpkin kits HERE.
