Today I have a variety of card ideas to share featuring the Trimming the Tree stamp set and the NEW Tree Trimmings Dies from Stampin’ Up! The dies are one of 6 different sets launched as part of the Perfect Partners Promo. These dies coordinate with stamp sets we already have in the catalog! Last week I shared a few easy front flap style fun fold cards created with this bundle, you can view them HERE. Today, I have 4 additional card ideas to share with you featuring the Trimming the Tree Bundle.
Trimming the Tree Cards
First let’s talk about the Trimming the Tree Bundle. The bundle includes the Trimming the Tree stamp set and the NEW Tree Trimming dies. One of the main images of the stamp set is, of course, a tree. There are many different ways you can decorate the tree. The first set of cards showcase the use of stamp images and some of the new Tree Trimming dies to decorate it. The tree image involves a two-step stamping process. Start by stamping the large tree image using any color green you want. I am using Mint Macaron for the main image and then accenting with Shaded Spruce. Be sure to watch the video to see the two-step stamping process in action. Plus, you will also learn how to use the stamp off technique to achieve a lighter shade of any color!
The layout for the first card is simply a 1-1/2 x 5 inch piece of patterned paper adhered to the left side of the card front. Add a 2 x 2-1/2 inch piece of the snowflake vellum. Cut a 2-3/4 x 3-3/4 inch piece of white cardstock. Stamp the tree image on the white cardstock and decorate as desired. Adhere the white cardstock to a 3 x 4 inch piece of Mint Macaron and then adhere to the card front.
The second card features a few more layers. The poppy parade colored paper piece is 1-1/2 x 5-1/2 inches and is adhered down the center of the card front. Next, cut a 3 x 4 inch piece of the green patterned paper and adhere to the center of the card. Add a 2-3.4 x 3-1/2 inch piece of vellum and then add your focal point. The concept for creating the tree is the same as the first card. The only different is that I used one of the Tree Trimming dies to cut out the image.
Using Up Scraps
The last two card ideas feature some awesome ways to use up scrap pieces of paper! I love creating fun backgrounds on my cards with little scrap pieces of paper. To me, it’s like putting together a little puzzle. For the first card, start with a 1-1/2 x 4-1/4 inch piece of patterned paper. Adhere it towards the left side of the card front. Next, cut a 2 x 2-1/2 inch piece of patterned paper and a 2 x 1-3/4 inch piece. Adhere these pieces next to the long strip. Add a scrap piece of vellum and then your focal point. You can also add a 1/8 x 4-1/4 inch strip of poppy parade cardstock to the left side of the card simply to create a pop of color.
The second card idea is my favorite! I have shared this scrappy strip card layout many times. You can really use this layout with any supplies you have on hand! I featured this layout on one of my Apple Harvest cards. You can also check out this layout with a card featuring This Birthday Piggy Bundle.
