Easy Front Flap Cards – 2 Ways

Learn how to make two different easy front flap cards from one 8-1/2 x 11 inch sheet of cardstock! And I have 2 different ways you can use this fun fold design in your card making.

The cards feature the Trimming the Tree Bundle and the Santa Express Designer Series Paper from Stampin’ Up! However, keep in mind that you can use any supplies you have on hand to create these fun fold cards.

Creating the Front Flap

Let’s start by talking about how to create the front flaps and the base of the cards. Start with an 8-1/2 x 11 inch piece of cardstock. Cut the 11 inch side of this cardstock piece, in half, at 5-1/2 inches. You will end up with two pieces of cardstock measuring 5-1/2 x 8-1/2 inches.

Take one of the 5-1/2 x 8-1/2 inch pieces and cut it in half, at 4-1/4 inches down the 8-1/2 inch side. You have just created two card bases. You will need one for each of the two cards.

Take the other 5-1/2 x 8-1/2 inch piece of card stock and score it at 4-1/4 inches to create a standard size card base. Place the folded card base in your paper trimmer (with the folded section at the top of your trimmer). Place the folded cardstock at the 3 inch mark and make the cut.

You will end up with two folded pieces of cardstock. When closed, one-piece measures 3 x 4-1/4 inches and the other piece measures 2-1/2 x 4-1/4 inches.

Next, let’s create the landscape style card. Cut a 5-1/4 x 4 inch piece of patterned paper. Adhere it to one of the 5-1/2 x 4-1/4 inch card bases. Take the 3 inch wide fun fold flap and adhere it to the center of the card base. You have just created the front flap fun fold section. Now feel free to decorate it with the Trimming the Tree Bundle or any supplies you have on hand.

Portrait Style

Now let’s create the portrait style front flap card. Cut a 5-1/4 x 4 inch piece of patterned paper. Adhere it to the remaining 5-1/2 x 4-1/4 inch card base. Take the 2-1/2 inch wide fun fold flap and adhere it to the center of the card base. You have just created the front flap fun fold section. Now feel free to decorate it with the Trimming the Tree Bundle or any supplies you have on hand.

The cool thing about this card is that you can create two cards with two different size fun fold sections. And you can use either of those fun fold sections in portrait or landscape style. Just choose a stamp set and supplies you already have on hand and play around with this design. There are so many possibilities!
