Learn how to make a Double Flap Triangle Fun Fold Card. It’s super simple and fun to make! And I have 2 different ways you can use this fun fold design in your card making. The cards feature the True Beauty Bundle and a variety of products from the Awash in Beauty Suite from Stampin’ Up! However, keep in mind that you can use any supplies you have on hand to create these fun fold cards.
Creating the Double Flap Triangle
First let’s talk about how to create the double flap triangle design. Start with two pieces of cardstock measuring 4-1/4 x 11 inches. Score both pieces of cardstock at 5-1/2 inches down the center of the 11-inch side to create a standard card base. Place one of the scored cardstock pieces in your paper trimmer. Make a cut, diagonally, from the top of the 5-1/2 inch score line to the opposite corner of the cardstock. Repeat this cutting process with the second piece of cardstock.
You will end up with two pieces of cardstock which look like the picture above. Take the 5-1/2 x 4-1/4 inch section of the bottom piece (as shown in the pic) and adhere it to the 5-1/2 x 4-1/4 inch section of the top piece. You will have a triangular flap section on each side of the card base. I highly recommend watching the video to see the creation of the card base in action.
Once you have created the card base, you are ready to decorate it. You can decorate this card base in landscape or portrait style.
Portrait Style
To create the Double Flap Triangle Fun Fold card in portrait style, simply create the card base as noted above. Cut a 4 x 5-1/4 inch piece of patterned paper. I recommend using double sided patterned paper so that you can flip the design and have two different patterned on the card front. Be sure to pay attention to the direction of the design on your patterned paper. Place the patterned paper in your paper trimmer so the 4 inch side is at the top of the trimmer. Make a diagonal cut from the upper right corner to the lower left corner.
Adhere one of the triangular pieces of patterned paper to the front flap. Then, flip the other piece over and adhere it to the inside flap of the card front. Add a 4 x 5-1/4 inch piece of white cardstock to the inside of the card and then simply decorate the card as desired.
Landscape Style
To create the Double Flap Triangle Fun Fold card in landscape style, you will use the same card base measurements as noted above. If you are using patterned paper which has a directional pattern, you will cut two pieces of patterned paper measuring 5-1/4 x 4 inches. If you are using a patterned paper which is non-directional, you only need one piece of patterned paper cut to 5-1/4 x 4 inches. The key to determining how many pieces you need is to flip your paper upside down. If your pattern is upside down, you have directional paper. If your pattern is the same when you flip it upside down, then it’s non-directional. I recommend watching the video for clarity on this topic.
Place the patterned paper in your paper trimmer so the 5-1/4 inch side is at the top of the trimmer. Make a diagonal cut from the upper right corner to the lower left corner. If you are using two pieces of patterned paper, be sure to watch the video to see the cutting process in action. Once you have the paper cut, adhere the pieces to the triangular flaps and decorate as desired.
