No Sew Stitching for Card Makers

Learn how to easily add stitching to your cards without sewing. Yes, no sewing involved! And I have 2 different ways you can use a stamp set to achieve the look of stitching in your card making.

The cards feature the Cottage Rose Bundle and a variety of products from the Abigail Rose Suite from Stampin’ Up! And, of course, the cards also feature the Stitchery stamp set. It’s the easiest way to add the look of stitching to any card.

No Sew Stitching

First let’s talk about how to achieve the look of stitching without dragging out your sewing machine. You can easily achieve the look of stitching by using the Stitchery stamp set! Yes, I stamped the stitching on these two cards. The stamp set has a variety of different stitch images you can use in your card making. My mind immediately went to a stamping a quilt block pattern. I simply cut 12 squares of patterned paper, adhered them to a piece of cardstock and then stamped the stitching. The first card features twelve 1-1/4 inch squares. The second card features twelve 1-inch squares. You can use a variety of different patterned papers too. It’s a great way to use up scraps!

Now I recommend watching this week’s video to see how easy it is to stamp the stitching around and in between these squares. Using a stamp positioning tool, like the Stamparatus, is a great way to quickly achieve this look. However, you can also stamp the stitching using an acrylic block. It’s super simple and gives the card such a cool look!

Alternate Ideas

While I love the look of the stitching with neutral colors, you can really use this technique on any cards and with any colors. The next two card ideas feature the exact same layout and design as the first two cards. The only difference is that I changed out the colors. The Abigail Rose Designer Series Paper pack has a variety of different beautiful patterns and colors which you can use in your card making.

The colors include Smoky Slate and Petal Pink. Changing out the colors from neutrals to this pink and gray combo really give the card designs a whole new look. If you are loving the products from the Abigal Rose Suite, then you definitely want to check out the simple masking technique featuring the Cottage Rose stamp set HERE.
