This week I have another simple masculine fun fold card idea to share. The fun fold card design is similar to the Dutch Door card idea I shared last week. However, for this particular card it only takes one quick cut to create it and there are two different ways you can use it in your card making.
Landscape Fun Fold
First let’s talk about how to create the base of the masculine fun fold card. Start with a 4-1/4 x 11 inch piece of cardstock. Score the 11 inch side at 5-1/2 inches to create the base of the card. Place the card in your paper trimmer, on the 11 inch side, and make a cut at 2-3/4 inches. That’s it! You now have the fun fold section of the card and you just cut off the piece that you will use to create the focal point.
Now before you add the focal point to the card front, be sure to decorate all the different sections of the card with patterned paper. The front flaps of the card feature a 2-1/2 x 4 inch piece of patterned paper. You can add a 5-1/4 x 4 inch piece of white cardstock on the inside of the card too. Once you have completed all of that, adhere the 2-3/4 x 4-1/4 inch piece of cardstock to the front flap of the card. This piece we cut off in order to create the card base. It makes a great place to add your focal point to the card.
Portrait Style
Often times you can take a card design and create it in both landscape and portrait style. I love to do this as it gives you another way to use the same design. Simply changing the orientation of the design tends to change the whole look of the card. The first masculine fun fold card was created in landscape style. This card showcases the portrait style.
The card base is created in the exact same way whether you are creating a portrait or landscape style card. The only difference between the two cards is the way in which you are decorating the card. Be sure to pay attention to the direction of the designs on the designer series paper. So for example, the camping scene on this paper is cut at 4 x 2-1/2 inches for the portrait style card. For the landscape style card, the paper is cut at 2-1/2 x 4 inches. It’s the same size, but the length and width changes when the orientation of the card changes. Be sure to watch the video to see the creation of the two styles of cards.
