Wow your friends and family with this easy Dutch Door card design. Learn how to create this fun fold card in two different ways! The cards feature the He’s All That Bundle and Designer Series Paper from Stampin’ Up! However, keep in mind you can use any supplies you have on hand to create the Dutch Door design.
Dutch Door Card Design
First let’s talk about the basic design for the Dutch Door card. Start with a 5-1/2 x 8-1/2 inch piece of cardstock. Score the 8-1/2 inch side at 4-1/4 inches. Place the cardstock in your paper trimmer so the 5-1/2 inch side at the top of the trimmer. Line up the edge of the cardstock at 2-3/4 inches and make a cut down to the score line. Turn the cardstock to the 5-1/2 inch side and make a 2-3/4 inch cut down the score line. You will end up cutting out a 2-3/4 x 4-1/4 inch piece of cardstock from the top part of the card base. This leaves a small flap, the Dutch Door, on the bottom of the card front.
The cool thing about this card design is that you will use that 2-3/4 x 4-1/4 inch piece of cardstock on the front of the card to create the focal point. So there is no cardstock waste! Be sure to watch the video to see the creation of this card in action!
Landscape Style
Now the cool thing about the Dutch Door card design is that you can create it in portrait or landscape style. Of course, when you create it in landscape style it no longer looks like a Dutch Door. However, you have a whole new look to your card without changing any of the measurements!
The Dutch Door card design is pretty versatile. When you create it in landscape style, looks like a Joy Fold card design from the front. The best part about this card design is you can use it over and over again with any supplies you have on hand.
