Lately, I have been on a mission to use up my designer series papers and scraps. So today I have a variety of simple card designs to share which feature with the Artfully Composed Designer Series Paper and some scraps I had left over from creating the Turtle Friends magic slider cards. If you haven’t seen the magic slider cards, you can check them out HERE.
Simple Card Layouts
So first let’s talk about the card layouts. The cool thing about the cards is that you can use any patterned papers or supplies you have on hand. Simply use your patterned paper to create the beautiful background and then decorate the cards as desired. To give you an idea of how to use these designs, I will showcase a few card ideas side by side.
The first two card ideas feature one of my favorite card layouts, a panel card design. Start by cutting two pieces of DSP to 1 x 5-1/4 inches. Cut a 2 x 5-1/4 inch piece for the center section of the card. Adhere the pieces across the card front, side by side, to create a beautiful layout. As you can see, both the turtle and the peach cards have the exact same layout, I simply decorated them differently.
The second card layout is just as simple! Cut a 3 x 4 inch piece of patterned paper and adhere to the left side of the card front. Next, cut two pieces of patterned paper at 2-1/4 x 2 inches and adhere them to the right side of the card. That’s it! Notice how different both of these cards look even though they have the exact same background layout.
Using Up Scraps
The next couple of card ideas feature some fun ways to use up scraps! One of my favorite ways to use up scraps is to create shapes for the card using my punches. The first card showcases a fun way to use the postage stamp punch in your card making. Punch out 3 postage stamp shapes from one patterned paper design and 3 from a different design. Adhere them across the card front and decorate as desired. I went super simple with my decorating as I simply added a doily and some of the Turtle Friends images.
The second card idea features the left over 2-1/2 x 4 inch rectangular shape from creating the Magic Slider cards. Simplly add a 1 x 4 inch piece of patterned paper above and below the rectangular shape and then decorate as desired.
The last Turtle Friends card idea features one of those left-over rectangular shapes and a 4 x 4-1/4 inch piece of patterned paper on the card front. Super simple card layouts which you can use over and over again with a variety of different supplies.
