Calming Camellia Monochromatic Card Ideas

This week I’m having a blast creating with the Calming Camellia stamp set and the 2020-2022 In Color Collection! There are 4 different card designs which feature each of the 5 In Colors. A total of 20 cards in all! I love creating monochromatic cards because you only need one color. Just think of all the different ink colors you have. Make the most of your card designs! Use them over and over again with different colors!

Calming Camellia

First let’s talk a little bit about the Calming Camellia stamp set. This is a Saleabration reward for hosts. The stamp set is free when the host reaches $300 or more in party sales. You can also earn it free on individual orders which is perfect if you have a big wish list! It’s a gorgeous stamp set with a variety of distinkive images. The detail in the images make it so easy to stamp beautiful cards.

The first Calming Camellia card design features the large floral image as the main focal point of the card. You can use this card layout with any large stamp images. Cut a 4 x 5-1/4 inch piece of white cardstock and stamp the image on it using any color ink you have on hand. Tear a little bit of the cardstock off the bottom (you know I love my paper tearing) and tie a bit of ribbon around it. Cut a 1-1/2 x 4 inch piece of patterned paper. Adhere it to the bottom of the card front and then adhere the white cardstock over the top. It’s such a fun and simple design.

Subtle Background

The second Calming Camellia card design features the large floral image stamped in the background, directly on the card front. Use the same color ink as the cardstock to create a more subtle look.

Start by stamping the large floral image in the center of the card front using the same color ink as the card stock. Add a 1 x 5-1/2 inch piece of patterned paper to the left side of the card front. Cut a 1-1/2 x 5-1/2 inch piece of white cardstock. Stamp some images down the cardstock piece, tear a bit off the bottom and adhere it to the card front. Then simply decorate as desired. This is my favorite design out of the 4.

Stamping on DSP

The third Calming Camellia card design features a bit of stamping on some patterned paper. You get the pattern of the paper combined with the image from the stamp. I just love this look. For these cards, I am using the 2020-2022 In Color Designer Series Papers. However, this technique works with a variety of patterned papers. I recommend choosing papers with a small pattern.

To create this card design, start with a 2-1/2 x 5-1/2 inch piece of patterned paper. Stamp the large floral image down the patterned paper using the same color ink as the paper. Create a fun little focal point using a doily and floral stamped shape. Finish decorating as desired.

Ribbon and DSP Background

The last Calming Camellia card design features the use of patterned paper and ribbon to create the background for the card. It’s a great way to use your ribbon and scraps of paper. You can use thin or wide ribbon for this technique. Simply adjust the width of your patterned paper pieces based upon the width of the ribbon you are using.

Start by cutting 3 pieces of patterned paper at 3/4 x 6 inches. The ribbon is 1/4 inches wide so I cut two pieces which were about 6 inches in length. Lay out the paper and ribbon on a 4 x 5-1/4 inch piece of white cardstock. Once you have the pattern you like, adhere the pieces to the cardstock. Finish decorating the card as desired.
