It’s always fun to put together a simple and cute card. And you can double that fun when you turn a simple card into a pop up card. Wondering how to do that? Well I just happen to have 4 simple card designs to share and we will be able to create a pop up section in any one of these cards.
Simple Card Designs
First let’s talk about the simple card designs. The cards feature the Driving By stamp set and the Sunshine and Rainbows Designer Series Paper from Stampin’ Up! These are just two of the many different products you can get for free with a qualifying order during Saleabration. Learn more about Saleabration HERE. However, you can use these card layouts with any supplies you have on hand. Just get creative with it!
The first card features a bit of patterned paper above and below the main focal point of the card. All of the paper pieces are 3-3/4 inches long. You can vary the width of the pieces if you are trying to use up scraps or if you are using a large stamp image. The second card showcases a variety of different size pieces of patterned paper to create a fun background for the card. You can grab all the measurements and step by step instructions in my free printable tutorial below.
Pop Up Section
The last two card ideas also showcase some fun ways to use your patterned paper to create a background for your card. I added color to all of the images from the Driving By stamp set using a variety of stampin’ blends. The first card simply showcases the layering of a variety of different size papers. Layering is a great way to use up scraps! The second card showcases a bit of stamping directly on a 3 x 5-1/2 inch piece of patterned paper. It creates such a fun look!
Now you can choose any of these simple card designs and turn it into a pop up card! I chose the last card to create a pop up section using the last card (with the van). I recommend watching the video to see the creation of the pop up section in action! You will be amazed at how easy it is to create this fun interaction section for the inside of your cards.
Just a little tip about choosing a shape or image for the pop up section. In the video I show you how to adhere two van shapes together on the pop up section of the card. One is on the front of the pop up section and one is adhered to the back. It works because the shapes are symmetrical. If you are working with a shape that is not symmetrical, then simply decorate the pop up section with one shape. You really don’t have to add a shape to the back.
