‘Tis the season for gift giving! So today I thought I would share four different paper gift bow ideas with you. You can create them with designer series paper (DSP) or cardstock. They are perfect for decorating your packages this holiday season.
Small Paper Gift Bows
The first couple of paper gift bow ideas I have to share are perfect for your smaller packages and were inspired by Yami Crafting. The little bow tie style can be created with any size circle shape. I actually traced the circle shape on a piece of DSP using a large cup. The circle measures 5 inches in diameter. Cut out the circle shape and score it every 1/4 inch. Accordion fold the circle shape and secure it in the middle with a 1/2 x 3 inch piece of DSP. Then fan out the paper gift bow and attach it to your package.
The second paper gift bow was created with a 6 x 6 inch piece of DSP. Score the DSP, diagonally, from corner to corner to create and “X” on the DSP. You will make several cuts along those score lines. I recommend watching the video to see the creation of this bow in action.
Layered Paper Gift Bows
The last two paper gift bow ideas are perfect for larger packages. Let’s start with the 3-layered bow. Cut a 2 x 12 inch piece of DSP for the base of the bow. Trim down this piece, based on the size of the package, and then dovetail each end. Next, cut two pieces of DSP at 2 x 6. Adhere the ends of each individual piece of DSP together so that one end is flat and one is rounded. Adhere them to the base so the flat end of each piece meets in the middle. Cut two pieces of 2 x 5 inch DSP and repeat the process for creating the loops. Adhere these pieces on top of the 2 x 6 inch pieces so the ends meet in the middle. Cut a 2 x 4 inch piece and adhere the ends together to create a cylinder shape. Adhere to the center of the paper gift bow.
The last bow features eight pieces of DSP cut to 1 x 12 inches. Loop each end of the 1 x 12 inch piece so they meet in the center. Add a bit of adhesive and secure each end to the center of itself. Repeat this loop process with the remaining seven pieces. Layer each of the eight pieces on top of each other by criss crossing each layer. Cut a 1 x 6 inch piece of DSP and adhere to the center of the paper gift bow. I recommend watching the video to see this process in action.
Tutorial & Supplies
These paper bows feature the Heartwarming Hugs Designer Series Paper. However, you can create these bows with any patterned papers you have on hand. It’s a great way to showcase your DSP! And don’t forget to create some handmade tags which coordinate with your bows! I created my tags with some of the images and die cut shapes from the Sweet Little Stockings Bundle.
I hope you enjoyed these little paper gift bow ideas. For more gift packaging ideas, check out some of my other posts HERE. And be sure to watch the video to see the creation of these bows in action! Have a fun and creative day my friends! ~ Lynn
