Pop Up Gift Card Holder and Packaging Idea

Today I have a pop up gift card holder idea to share with you. And you can create two pop up gift card holders from one 8-1/2 x 11 inch piece of cardstock! Now these little cards will fit in a standard sized envelope. However, I thought I would jazz them up with an easy packaging idea using a 12 x 12 inch piece of DSP. Super fun and simple!

Pop Up Gift Card Holder

First let’s talk about creating the pop up gift card holder. Start by cutting an 8-1/2 x 11 inch piece of cardstock, in half, at 4-1/4 inches on the short side. You will end up with two pieces of cardstock measuring 4-1/4 x 11 inches. You can create two pop up gift card holders from one full sheet of cardstock, woohoo!

Next, place the 4-1/4 x 11 inch piece of cardstock in your paper trimmer on the 11 inch side. Score at 2 and 5-1/2 inches. Move the cardstock to 6-1/2 inches and make a cut. Then make a 1 inch score line on the small leftover piece. You can add a little pizzazz to the edges of the gift card holder using the Basic Border dies. To assemble the gift card holder, adhere the bottom and sides of the two 1 inch sections together. Be sure to watch the video to see the assembly in action!

Gift Card Packaging Idea

Now the pop up gift card holders do fit inside a standard envelope. However, I decided to create a fun little package for them. To create the packaging, cut a 6 x 12 inch piece of DSP. Yes, you can create two of these packages from one 12 x 12 inch piece of DSP. Sweet!

Score the 12 inch side of the DSP at 2, 7 and 10-1/2 inches. Fold on all the score lines. Take the 1-1/2 inch section and fold it back on top of itself. This creates a little decorative band (a different DSP pattern) across the center of the package. Adhere the sides of the bottom section and decorate as desired. Be sure to watch the video to see the assembly in action!

  1. Lynn, your project photos are really tiny and hard to see. Can you enlarge them? (Or is it just my cell?)

    • Hi Carole, I think the issue might be your cell. I did pull it up on my phone and they seem to be the normal size
