Got a lot of patterned paper? Well today I have a fun and simple cards and a gift packaging idea to share that will help you put that paper to good use! The cards and packaging features a variety of products from the Sweet Symmetry Suite. However, you can really use any patterned papers you have on hand for these projects.
Sweet Symmetry Card Ideas
So let’s start out talking about a few quick and simple card ideas. The cards feature the large floral image from the In Symmetry stamp set. The images are stamped on a scrap piece of white cardstock, using Calypso Coral ink, and then cut out with a scissors. The fun thing about this image is you can use it as is to create the flower featured on the first card. Or, you can put two “half” flowers together to create a full flower as showcased on the second card.
Next, let’s talk about the measurements. The first card features a 2 x 5-1/2 inch piece of patterned paper adhered down the left side of the Bumblebee colored card front. Cut a 1 x 5-1/2 inch piece of Just Jade cardstock. Tear the piece in half and adhere one of the halves to the left side of the card front as shown. The second card features a 2-1/2 x 4-1/2 inch piece of patterned paper adhered to the card front. Before adhering the paper, tear about 3/4-inch off the right side of the card front. Add a 1-1/4 x 5-1/2 inch piece of patterned paper on the inside, right side, of the card. Once you have the patterned paper adhered to the cards, simply decorate them as desired.
Gift Packaging Idea
Once you have created a variety of cards, you are ready to package them up for gift giving! All you need is a double sided 12 x 12 inch piece of patterned paper to create it (you can actually make two). Start by cutting your patterned paper to 6 x 12 inches. On the 12 inch side, score the paper at 1-1/4, 5-3/4, 6-1/4 nd 10-3/4 inches. The 1-1/4 inch sections are folded back onto to the DSP to create little accent pieces. Next cut a long piece of ribbon and adhere it across the center of the inside section of the DSP. Make sure you leave excess ribbon so you have enough to tie this package closed. Next, grab 8 regular envelopes. Place each envelope in your paper trimmer at 4-1/4 inches and cut off the top flap. Adhere the envelopes to the inside of the DSP, one on top of the other, to create a little accordion section.
Now you are ready to fill it with some handmade cards. If you are using regular size cards, 5-1/2 x 4-1/4 inch, you can only fit the card inside the envelope pouches. If you want to tuck and envelope in with each card, I recommend using note cards or purchasing some slightly large envelopes to create the accordion section of this gift package.
