Today I have a variety of different card ideas to share which feature the May 2021 Paper Pumpkin kit called Batter Up. The card ideas feature some fun ways to use the exclusive stamp set from the kit. I also have a neat little trick for making more baseballs with a circle punch and photopolymer stamp.
Paper Pumpkin Kit Cards
The May 2021 Paper Pumpkin kit is called Batter Up. The kit contains all of the materials to create 9 cards; 3 of each of the 3 different designs. These cards are super simple to create since everything in the kit is pre cut and ready to assemble. There is just a little bit of stamping to create the greeting for each of these cards. And, of course, each card has a coordinating envelope!
Each Paper Pumpkin kit includes an exclusive stamp set, an ink spot and a variety of supplies to create the cards. The stamp set in this month’s kit features 13 different images you can use in your card making. I decided to focus on using the baseball hat and bat images to create additional cards. However, the exclusive stamp set in the May 2021 Paper Pumpkin kit did not include a baseball image. So I had to create one!
Creating the Baseballs
To create the baseball shapes for these cards, I used a 2 inch circle punch to create the baseball shape. Next, I needed to figure out how to add the stitching to the baseball. I found a photopolymer stamp, from the Jar of Flowers set, which works perfect for stamping the stitching on the circle shapes. Since it’s a photopolymer stamp, I can bend the image and apply it to a stamping block. Then I simply stamped the stitching on each of the circle shapes using Real Red ink. For the finishing touch, take a stampin’ write marker and drawn a line through the center of the stitching! Works like a charm!
These first two cards feature the baseball as the focal point on the card. The bat, hat and greeting are images from the exclusive stamp set in the May 2021 Paper Pumpkin kit. Simply stamp the images on a scrap piece of white cardstock, using Night of Navy ink, and then cut out the images with a scissors. The patterned paper featured on these cards are from my personal stash; they are recently retired papers from the World of Good and Playful Pets DSP packs.
More Batter Up Card Ideas
The baseball shape works super as the main focal point for these cards as well. The first card showcases the “sun ray” stencil from the March 2021 Paper Pumpkin kit. I thought it worked perfect for re-creating the look of one of the card designs in this month’s kit. I simply sponged some Real Red ink across the stencil, on a 5 x 3-3/4 inch piece of white cardstock, and then created the focal point. Such a fun look!
The second card features a 3 x 5-1/2 inch piece of DSP in the background of the card. This particular DSP is actually from the Playful Pets DSP pack. So if you have any leftover, it works great for baseball themed cards!
Book Binding Card Ideas
The last two card ideas feature a super simple fun fold card! One of my team members, Linda Anderson, shared this super fun card design with us this week so I thought I would give it a whirl. It basically involves cutting a 4-1/4 x 11 inch piece of cardstock. On the 11 inch side, score the cardstock at 4-1/4 x 5-1/2 inches. Fold the card in half, on the 5-1/2 inch score line. Add a bit of adhesive between the 4-1/4 and 5-1/2 inch score line. Basically you are adhering that little 1-1/4 inch section down to the card. It creates a little flap on the front of the card that opens like a book.
Of course you can also change the look of the card simply by changing the orientation. The first card features this fun fold design in portrait style. The second card features the fun fold design in landscape style. The measurements for creating the base of this fun fold card are exactly the same.
Decorating these cards is super simple as well. Add a 1 x 4 inch piece of DSP to “book binder” section. Cut a 4 x 4 inch piece of DSP to cover the other part of the card front, then decorate as desired.
Supplies
I really look forward to receiving my kit each month. The projects are super fun and there are a variety of different things you can create with the materials in each kit! However, you must subscribe to the program by the 10th of each month in order to receive that month’s kit. Once the deadline passes, the kits are no longer available. So I highly recommend becoming a subscriber so you don’t miss out on the fun! Learn more about the monthly Paper Pumpkin kit program HERE. Have a fun and creative day my friends! ~ Lynn

OH MY GOSH !! I am not a baseball fan, so event though I got the kit, these alternatives are AMAZING! I love how you made them not just for Father’s Day (unfortunately, my Dad is no longer with us, or Mom either, and my brother is also not a baseball fan). But these can be used for any guy for any reason. WHOO HOOT! Great job! You’re so creative. Love the stitching!
Thanks so much Bobbi! These were such fun cards to make. Happy to hear you enjoyed them!
