Gilded Leafing is an embellishment that can add a bit of glitz and glam to your card making. It’s a little container packed with gold flakes which is the gilded leafing. Now these little flakes are very light and can easily take flight in your craft room! So today I have a few tips for you as well as two different application techniques you can use with the Gilded Leafing.
Heat Embossing
The first technique you can use to apply Gilded Leafing is with heat embossing. Stampin’ Up! has a fabulous Heat & Stick Embossing Powder that works perfectly with the Gilded Leafing. For these card ideas, I am featuring the Art Galley stamp set and two step stamping. Stamp one of the images using colored ink. Next, stamp the overlay image using versa mark, sprinkle the image with embossing powder, tap off the excess and heat to set the image.
Now for the fun part! Dip the image into the gilded leafing. The gold leafing will stick to the embossing on the image. Rub the leafing into the embossing and then remove the excess leafing. Super cool!
Double Sided Tape
The second technique you can use to apply Gilded Leafing is through the use of double sided tape. For these card ideas, I am featuring the use of Tear & Tape. Simply tear off a piece of tap and adhere it to a piece of cardstock. Dip the exposed tape into the gilded leafing. The gold leafing will stick to the tape. Rub the leafing into the tape and then remove the excess leafing.
The double sided tape with the gilded leafing creates such a beautiful look. It really accents the papers and design of the card. And of course you can also incorporate the use of the heat embossed images with the gilded leafing to add even more pizzazz!
Gilded Leaf Frames
The last couple of card ideas feature the use of the double sided tape technique to create a cool frame design on the card. The first card features the double sided tape adhered around the edge of the white cardstock.
The second card idea features the use of double sided tape to frame out a piece of acetate paper on the card. The great thing about this technique is that the double sided tape holds the edges of the acetate on the card which means the acetate remains clear. No adhesive marks showing through the acetate!
