Simple Card Making Ideas ~ Flowers for Every Season

Today I have some simple card making ideas to share that you can start using right away! The cards feature the Flowers for Every Season Designer Series Paper and the Butterfly Brilliance Bundle. However, these card layouts work well with ANY patterned papers and supplies you have on hand. Plus, they are a great way to use up scraps!

Simple Card Making Layouts

This weekend I was on a mission to use up some of my paper. The new catalog comes out at the beginning of May so I wanted to make sure I make some room for NEW paper. So these quick and simple card ideas were inspired by my drive to use up some patterned paper. They are perfect for using up scraps and those 6 x 6 inch paper packs.

Simple Card Making Ideas ~ Flowers for Every Season

These first couple of designs feature a bit of paper tearing and some smaller pieces of patterned paper. They showcase how easy it is to create a card with very few supplies. The first one features a 1 x 5-1/2 inch piece of patterned paper. The second one features a 1-1/2 x 5-1/2 inch piece of patterned paper. So if you are using a 6 x 6 inch paper pack, that means you can pretty much cut up an entire sheet of paper to create 6 of the first card and 4 of the second card. Pretty cool!

The torn pieces of paper are created from tearing a 1-1/4 x 5-1/2 inch piece of Misty Moonlight cardstock in half. Of course you can also use up the torn pieces of cardstock leftover from creating the next couple of cards.

Showcase Your Patterned Paper

Now if you want to use larger pieces of patterned paper, these next couple of layouts are perfect for showing them off! Both of these cards feature a torn edge on the right side of the card front. You can save that torn piece to create additional cards (like the first two I featured).

Once you create the torn edge, adhere a 2 x 4-1/2 inch piece of patterned paper to the card front. You can also use a 2 x 4 inch piece, I just happened to have a few slightly larger pieces that I wanted to use up. Add a 1 x 5-1/4 inch piece to the inside of the card, on the right, so it is visible to the front when the card is closed. The last bit of patterned paper is a little 1/2 x 3 inch piece. Then simply embellish as desired.

Butterfly Brilliance

So besides the fun and simple card layouts, I also wanted to talk a little bit about the butterfly embellishments. All of the cards I am sharing today feature one of the beautiful butterfly images from the Butterfly Brilliance Bundle. This particular bundle includes one large stamp with 6 different butterfly images.

The bundle also features the coordinating Brilliant Wings Die set. The cool thing about this bundle is that you can stamp all 6 butterflies at once and then cut them all out at once with the coordinating die! Yep, stamp once, cut once! Super awesome and a HUGE time saver. So for these cards, I stamped the butterfly image once, using Crushed Curry, then cut out all 6 of the butterflies to use as embellishments!

Flowers for Every Season

As mentioned earlier, the layouts were created using the Flowers for Every Seasons Designer Series Paper. However, you can use ANY patterned paper and ANY stamps set you have on hand. The layouts are quite versatile so there are lots of possibilities!
