Today I have a fun and easy Arrow Fold Card design to share with you. This is not your typical fun fold card design. It involves turning a standard card front into a cool little arrow design. It’s a simple yet unique card design!
Arrow Fold
Creating the arrow fold is easier than you might think! Start with a piece of cardstock cut to 5-1/2 x 8-1/2 inches. Score the 8-1/2 inch side at 4-1/4 inches to create a standard card base. Lay the card in front of you in landscape style. Open up the card. Grab a ruler and a pencil, we will be making a few marks on one of the halves of the card base. It doesn’t matter which half of the card base you use, just make sure you make all of the following marks on one half. Choose one of the 5-1/2 inch sides of the card base, measure over 2-3/4 inches and make a little tick mark. Next, make a mark at 2-1/8 inches on each of the sides.
Starting on the right side of the card base, place the cardstock in your paper trimmer, line up the 2-3/4 inch mark with the 2-1/8 inch score line in the groove of your paper trimmer and make a score line diagonally across the cardstock. Next, score from the 2-3/4 inch mark up to the right side of the 4-1/4 inch score line (which is the fold line of the card). Now repeat this scoring process on the left side. Fold the large score lines towards the inside of the card. Fold the smaller score lines towards the outside of the card. Glue the folds down to hold the arrow design in place. Congrats! You just created the arrow fold.
Decorating the Card
Next, let’s cut some patterned paper to decorate the Arrow Fold Card. Start by cutting a 5-1/4 x 4 inch piece of patterned paper. Find the center of the 5-1/4 inch side (bottom). Measure 2-5/8 inches in and make a little tick mark with a pencil. Place the patterned paper in your paper trimmer. Line up the 2-5/8 inch mark with the upper right corner of the patterned paper and make the cut. Repeat this cut on the left side, cutting from the 2-5/8 inch mark on the bottom up to the left corner. You will end up with 3 pieces.
Adhere the large triangular piece to the front of the card. Cut a 5-1/4 x 4 inch piece of white cardstock and adhere it to the inside of the card. Adhere the two other triangular pieces to the inside of the card as shown. Double sided patterned paper works great for this type of card as you can show off both patterns. For the finishing touch, embellish the card front as desired.
