Hey Birthday Chick is just as much fun to create with as the Hey Chick stamp set from a few years ago. Well guess what? These sets are about to get even better! Stampin’ Up! is bringing back the Hey Chick stamp set along with a fun coordinating die set! Wahoo! And if you think that’s awesome, wait until you see the new coordinating die set for the Hey Birthday Chick stamp set! The dies will be available separately or in a bundle beginning February 2, 2021. So today I have 6 fun and simple card ideas to share featuring the Hey Birthday Chick set. Later this week I will share 6 cards featuring the Hey Chick Bundle.
Playing with Patterns
The Hey Birthday Chick stamp set caught my eye right away because the images are fun and quirky. I love quirky! The first couple of card ideas I have to share feature the these fun images combined with some of the bright papers from the Playing with Patterns Designer Series Paper pack. The patterns are bright and cheery which make them perfect for creating birthday cards.
The cards are pretty basic in design. The first card features a 5-1/4 x 4 inch piece of DSP. Next, cut a 2-1/2 x 6 inch piece of white cardstock. Emboss the stitched whimsy design on this piece, adhere it to the DSP on an angle and cut off the excess. The second card features a 5-1/4 x 4 inch piece of white cardstock embossed with one of the stitched with whimsy dies. For the finishing touch, decorate the cards with some of the fun Hey Birthday Chick images.
So these first two card ideas, feature the Hey Birthday Chick set with the new coordinating dies and the Stitched With Whimsy die set. Quirky becomes a whole lot more fun when you add a bit of whimsy to it! The stitching comes from the whimsy dies. The Hey Birthday Chick images were cut out with one of the new coordinating dies! Yes, no more cutting out these images by hand! Super fun!
Birthday Chick Dies
The Hey Birthday Chick stamp set now has a coordinating die set called the Birthday Chick dies. So besides being able to cut out all of the chick images, the die set has a variety of other fun things for decorating your cards like this fence. Yes, you can cut out little sections of fence to decorate your cards.
To create this card, start with a piece of white cardstock for the base of your card. Cut a 1 x 5-1/2 inch piece of the calypso coral polka dot Playing with Patterns DSP and adhere it down the left of the card front. Next, cut a 3/4 x 3-1/4 inch piece of yellow DSP and adhere it to the right of the polka dot piece across the bottom of the card front. From a piece of crumb cake cardstock, cut two sections of fence and adhere to the card as shown. Note you will have to trim down one of the sections of fence to fit the card. Then simply decorate as desired.
Mix and Match
The last three card ideas feature two different patterned paper packs: Playing with Patterns and some of the Wood Grain papers from the In Good Taste Designer Series Paper pack. There are so many more card making possibilities when you mix and match your patterned papers!
This first card idea seems to be one of my “go to” designs lately. It probably looks familiar as I have used this one before on my snail mail card ideas and to create some birthday cards. Yes, you can use your card designs over and over again!
Circle Card Technique
This second card design features a fun little circle technique! It really just involves cutting a circle shape into a 5-1/4 x 4 inch piece of white cardstock. You will be using the negative space on the white cardstock for this particular card. However, be sure to save the circle piece for the third card. Add a 1 x 5-1/4 inch piece of patterned paper to the left side of the card front. Then simply decorate as desired.
The last card idea features the leftover circle shape from creating the second card. Cut a 5-1/4 x 4 inch piece of one of the wood grain patterned papers. Add a 1 x 4 inch piece of polka dot patterned paper . Tear a 1 x 4 inch piece of Gray Granite cardstock in half and adhere to the card as shown. Finishing decorating as desired.
I hope you enjoyed these fun and simple card ideas! I can’t wait to share the Hey Chick card ideas with you later this week. Be sure to check out the new Birthday Chick die set at https://lynndunn.stampinup.net on February 2, 2021! Have a fun and creative day ~ Lynn
