Layering Triangles – Tree Angle Christmas Card Ideas

Let’s talk about some fun ways to use layering triangles in your card making. Triangles make the perfect Christmas trees so it’s only fitting that I feature the use of the Stampin’ Up! Tree Angle stamp set and the stitched triangle dies. And I have 3 different ways you can use triangle shapes to create some simple and fun Christmas cards.

Focal Point Layering

Layering is always a great way to add depth and dimension to any project. The first two cards I have to share feature the use of layering to create a focal point on the card. The cool thing about layering is that you can layer as few or as many shapes as you want to create the desired look. Take a look at the first card idea. This particular card features the layering of two triangle shapes to create the focal point of the card.

The second card idea features the layering of multiple triangle shapes to create the focal point. This particular layering involves a mixture of stamp images and die cut pieces. This is such a fun card to create as it looks like a Christmas forest.

Background Layering

The last card idea I have to share with you today features the use of layering in the background. This type of layering creates a fun backdrop for the focal point of the card. The triangle shapes are used to create the focal point and the background. For the background, simply cut two triangle pieces from a piece of patterned paper. Adhere the pieces to the left and right side of the card front. These background pieces really draw attention to the focal point on the card. Besides layering, you can use triangle shapes to create fun layouts in your card making. A few months ago I showcased the use of triangle shapes to some split card designs; you can view the 3 different designs HERE. You can also use them to create a background design on your card.
