Jolly Gingerbread is the theme of this month’s Paper Pumpkin kit. The kit contains supplies to create 15 gift cards with coordinating envelopes. However, I cut apart most of the gift card holders in the kit and created around 24 standard size cards. So today, I will share some of the designs with you.
Jolly Gingerbread House
The Jolly Gingerbread House gift card holders are super cute! So you can image how much fun I had when I cut them apart to use the gingerbread houses as the focal point for a standard size card! Simply cut apart the gift card holders on all of the score lines to create the little gingerbread houses. Plus, you can still use the white scalloped panels to decorate the houses.
To create these cards, start with a piece of Cinnamon Cider cardstock for the base of your card. Cut a 5-1/4 x 4 inch piece of white cardstock. Add a 2 x 5-1/4 inch piece of patterned paper on the left side of the card front. Then go ahead and adhere the decorated gingerbread house to the card front. Next cut a 1-1/4 x 4 inch piece of white cardstock. Tear the 4 inch side and adhere it to the bottom of the card (it resembles a little snow bank). For the finishing touch, embellish the card with the fun little candy pieces that come in the kit.
Design Your Own
Each of the gift card holders comes with a front and back white scalloped decorative panel. The front panel already has a pre-printed design on it; the back panel does not. The purpose of the blank white scalloped piece is to adhere it to the back of the gift card holder so that you can write a message to the recipient or stamp the “to” and “from” image. However, I decided to use the blank white decorative panel to stamp my own jolly gingerbread house.
Each Paper Pumpkin kit comes with an exclusive stamp set. The set in this month’s kit has a cute little ginger bread house. Simply stamp the house image on the lower part of the white scalloped panel using Cinnamon Cider ink. Next, stamp the fancy decorative image above the house. Choose your favorite coloring tools to color in the images. Adhere the white panel to one of the gift card holders. Now you have a fun little jolly gingerbread house to use as the focal point on your card.
Z Fold Design
My Christmas card making would not be complete without a fun little z-fold card! This last card idea is one of my favorites! I love z-fold cards and the jolly gingerbread house makes the perfect little focal point for the front of the card.
To create the z-fold card, start with a 5-1/2 x 8-1/2 inch piece of Cinnamon Cider cardstock. Score the 8-1/2 inch side at 2-1/8 and 4-1/4 inches. Cut two pieces of patterned paper at 1-7/8 x 5-1/4 inches. Adhere one piece to the front flap of the z-fold card and the other piece to the inside section. Next, cut a 5-1/4 x 4 inch piece of white cardstock and adhere it to the inside of the card. Adhere the left side of the jolly gingerbread house to the front flap of the z-fold card. Then simply embellish as desired.
