Z fold cards are my favorite type of fun fold card to make! So today I am sharing 4 different ways you can create them! The first set of cards feature, what I like to call, the “Regular” z fold. The second set of cards feature a Double Z Fold. Now you can create these fun fold cards with any stamp set or supplies you have on hand. However, the cards I am sharing today feature some of the fun products from the Autumn Goodness Bundle from Stampin’ Up! For more card ideas featuring this bundle, check out my latest post HERE.
Regular Z Fold Card
There are two different ways you can cut an 8-1/2 x 11 inch piece of cardstock to create this fun fold. The first way to cut an 8-1/2 x 11 inch piece of cardstock is to cut it in half, at 5-1/2 inches, on the 11 inch side. This creates a card stock piece which measures 5-1/2 x 8-1/2 inches. Score the cardstock, on the 8-1/2 inch side, at 2-1/8 and 4-1/4 inches to create the base of the card. By cutting your cardstock in half, on the 11 inch side, it creates a “thin” front flap for the z fold card as featured below.
The second way is to cut an 8-1/2 x 11 inch piece of cardstock in half, at 4-1/4 inches, on the 8-1/2 inch side. This creates a card stock piece which measures 4-1/4 x 11 inches. Score the cardstock piece, on the 11 inch side, at 2-3/4 and 5-1/2 inches to create the base of the card. By cutting your cardstock in half, on the 8-1/2 inch side, it creates a “thicker” front flap for the card as featured below.

As you can see, this really shows how different the cards look simply based on the way in which you cut your 8-1/2 x 11 inch piece of cardstock. Plus you can actually make two cards from one 8-1/2 x 11 inch piece of cardstock! Pretty cool, hey?
Double Z Fold Card
Now let’s talk about how to create two different double z fold cards. The concept for creating these cards relies upon the creation of a regular z fold first. This first card involves the creation of a regular z fold (the thinner front flap card). The double z fold involves adding an additional folded section to the card. This card involves adding an additional fun fold section cut to the same size as the card base. In this case, the additional section is 3/4 inches wide and 8-1/2 inches long. Score this piece at 2-1/8 and 4-1/4 inches. I recommend watching the video for some tips on assembling this style of card.
The second double z fold card also involves the creation of a regular z fold (the thicker front flap card). This card involves adding an additional fun fold section cut to the same size as the card base. In this case, the additional section is 3/4 inches wide and 11 inches long. Score this piece at 2-3/4 and 5-1/2 inches. Be sure to watch the video for some tips on assembling the double fold.
