Today I have a variety of card ideas to share featuring the Autumn Goodness stamp set from Stampin’ Up! However, these are not your ordinary autumn themed card ideas! These cards have a bit of Halloween magic in them. Yes, they do! Each card features Halloween themed patterned papers. Crazy, right? Well you will soon see that the patterns in the Magic in this Night Designer Series Paper pack are not just for Halloween!
Autumn Goodness
First let’s talk about the Autumn Goodness stamp set. This particular stamp set has 10 different fun autumn-themed images: Pumpkins, Wheelbarrows, Haystacks and some beautiful flowers. The cards I am sharing today feature just the floral and pumpkin images which means there are soooo many more fun things you can do with this set! Now the images in this stamp set do require a bit of coloring. I find the stampin’ blends to be the perfect tool for adding color to these images. However, you can really use any coloring tools to create these cards.
So these first two card ideas feature one of my favorite card making techniques; paper tearing! It’s such a simple way to add texture to you cards and it has a fun look! Each of the cards feature a 1-1/4 x 5-1/4 inch piece of patterned paper adhered to the right side of the card front. Next cut a 5-1/4 x 4 inch piece of patterned paper (or cardstock). Tear the right side of the paper and adhere it to the card front so the torn part overlaps onto the small piece of patterned paper. The focal point for the card features the stamped image on a set of laying circles (or squares). It’s a quick and simple card design that you can clearly use over and over again with different papers and stamp images.
Magic in this Night Designer Series Paper
The next couple of cards ideas are very similar to the first set. The only difference is that I used slightly larger layering shapes for the stamp images. I also added a little 1/2 x 5-1/4 inch piece of cardstock to the left side of the card front just to break up the design of the patterned paper.
All of the card ideas feature different patterned papers from the Magic in this Night Designer Series Paper pack. This particular patterned paper is featured as part of a Halloween-themed product suite in the 2020 Stampin’ Up! Holiday mini catalog. There are super fun “spooky” patterns in this paper pack. However, you will also find a variety of elegant patterns that can be used to create cards for ANY occasion. These autumn themed cards are just a sampling of the card making possibilities with this paper pack.
Layering Shapes – Negative Space
The last couple of card ideas also feature a bit of paper tearing. This time it’s just a little torn corner instead of the entire side of the card. Has a fun little look, hey? Now before tearing the corner of a 5-1/4 x 4 inch piece of white cardstock, you need to die cut a shape into it to create some “negative” space. Choose a set of layering shapes. Any shapes will work, I just happen to be working with circles and squares. The smaller shape is the one you will stamp the image on. The larger shape is the one you will cut into the white cardstock. You want two shapes that differ in size by about a 1/2 inch.
Layer the large and small die shapes on the left side of the white cardstock. Cut them both out at the same time. Take the smaller shape and set it aside for the moment. Tear the upper right hand side of the white cardstock. Cut a piece of patterned paper, approximately 2 x 2 inches, and adhere it to the upper right hand corner of the cardstock. Use colored cardstock for the base of your card. Adhere the white torn cardstock to the card front. The color of the card base will show through the negative space created by the scalloped circle (or square) shape on the white cardstock. Now take the small circle (or square) shape, stamp an image on it and color it in. Adhere to the center of the negative space (add a bit of overlapping ribbon pieces before adhering the shape). Then finish decorating as desired.

How fun are these cards? I hope you enjoyed this glimpse into the Autumn Goodness stamp set. Besides the beautiful stamp set, these card ideas also showcase some fun ways to use the Halloween patterned papers from the Magic in this Night DSP.
