Today I have 6 easy Holiday card ideas featuring the Stampin’ Up! Festive Post stamp set. This particular set is quite versatile as it contains a variety of images that can be used to create Halloween, Christmas or Love-themed cards. All of my favorite holidays rolled into one fun stamp set!.
Besides the variety of fun card ideas, each of the cards feature a different piece of patterned paper from the Plaid Tidings 6 x 6 inch Designer Series Paper pack. And I used a full sheet of patterned paper to create both cards! Although it’s only a 2 card One Sheet Wonder, I made sure to use all of the leftover scraps to decorate the inside of the cards.
Festive Post – Halloween Cards
So the first set of cards I have to share with you feature a Halloween theme. There are several different images in the Festive Post stamp set that are perfect for Halloween! The first card features a 5-1/2 x 4-1/4 inch piece of plaid patterned paper adhered to the card front. Yes, cover the entire front of the card to create a striking backdrop. Next, cut a 2 x 4 inch piece of black cardstock and snip the end into a banner. Before adhering the banner to the card, add a little bit of twine to the top and a square vellum doily to the back. Then decorate as desired.
The second card features the leftover piece of patterned paper. The piece measures 1-3/4 x 5-1/2 inches and is adhered down the center of the card front. Next, cut two pieces of black cardstock at 1/2 x 5-1/2 inches and adhere one to each side of the patterned paper. For the finishing touch, create the focal point with some layering rectangular postage stamp shapes.
Once you have used up the larger pieces of patterned paper, you will end up with a 1/2 x 6 inch piece leftover. Trim it down to a 1/2 x 4-1/4 inch side and use it on the inside of one of the cards. Of course, you can also add a few more stamped images.
Love Themed Cards
The second set of cards feature the love-themed images in the Festive Post stamp set. These images are perfect for creating cards for Valentine’s Day or any other love-themed occasion. Again I chose a piece of patterned paper from the Plaid Tidings DSP pack for these cards. And the best part is, the dimensions for cutting the paper are exactly the same as the Halloween cards. I really enjoy using the same card design with a variety of different supplies.
The first card features the exact same layout as the Halloween card. Simply change out the colors and images and you have a fun new look to your design! The second card features the same size patterned paper piece as the second Halloween card. However, this time I showcased a fun way to use the postage stamp image in the set. Simply stamp it all the way down the card front, on both sides, using Melon Mambo ink. Add the patterned paper as shown and punch out two rectangular postage shapes. Cut one of the postage shapes in half and adhere them to the card front as shown. This is one of my favorite designs! Super fun!
Festive Post – Christmas Cards
The last two card ideas feature the Christmas-themed images in the Festive Post stamp set. The patterned papers are cut to the same size as the other cards. Of course I chose another piece of patterned paper from the Plaid Tidings DSP pack, only this time, with Christmas colors.
Notice how the first card features a full 5-1/2 x 4-1/4 inch sheet of patterned paper on the card front. This is the exact same layout I used for each of the 3 different holiday cards. It’s so easy to take a simple card design and use it to create cards for ANY occasion. The second card features the leftover 1-3/4 x 5-1/2 inch piece of patterned paper. As you can see by each of the 3 different designs, it was pretty easy to change up the look of the card simply by adjusting the placement of the 1-3/4 inch wide piece of patterned paper.
I hope you enjoyed these holiday card ideas and the versatility of the stamp set as well as the card layouts. For more ways to get the most of your card layouts and stamp sets, check out my latest post HERE.
