Whether you prefer white or red poinsettias, these ideas will give you some fun and easy ways to create Christmas cards. Love poinsettias? Well then be sure to check out some fun ways to create poinsettia cards with flower punches HERE.

White Poinsettia Card Ideas

The first couple of cards I have to share feature white poinsettias. These particular card designs are perfect for showing off your beautiful patterned papers. And they are quick and simple which is a huge plus! Both cards feature some of the gorgeous patterns from the NEW Poinsettia Place Designer Series Paper.

The first card features a 2 x 5-1/4 and 2 x 4 inch pieces of patterned paper layered together on a piece of vanilla cardstock to create the backdrop for the card. Cut a 2 x 3 inch piece of vanilla cardstock and stamp a Christmas sentiment on it. Wondering about the poinsettia embellishment? Well I simply cut out one of the poinsettias from the patterned paper and used it to embellish the card.

The second card features another quick and simple layout so that you can show off your patterned paper. For this card, cut a 4 x 4 inch piece of patterned paper and adhere it to the bottom part of the card front. Next, cut a 2 x 4 inch piece of a different pattern. In this case, I used the patterns on the front and back of one of the sheets of designer series paper. Tear the 4 inch side of the 2 x 4 inch piece of patterned paper and adhere it to the top of the card front. Then embellish as desired.

Poinsettia Petals Die Cuts

This last card features a large die cut poinsettia as the focal point. One of the fun things about the Poinsettia Petals Bundle is that the die set cuts and embosses! So not only are you able to cut out all of the poinsettia shapes, you can also add details to the leaves with the embossing dies that are in the set!

The backdrop for the card features a 5-1/4 x 4 inch piece of woodgrain patterned paper and a 1-1/2 x 4 inch piece of a different pattern from the Poinsettia Place DSP pack. The layered white poinsettia makes a fabulous focal point on the patterned paper.

Red Poinsettia Card Ideas

The next few cards feature more traditional Christmas colors: Real Red and Old Olive. The poinsettia die cuts are so simple to use and, when layered together, they create such stunning focal points on the card. The first card features a clean and simple card design. The card consists of two parts: (1) A layered poinsettia and (2) A stamped sentiment. That’s it! It’s probably one of the easiest cards to make!

The second card features more of the beautiful patterned papers from the Poinsettia Place Designer Series Paper pack. Start with a piece of Old Olive cardstock for the base of the card. Cut a 1 x 5-1/2 inch piece of patterned paper and adhere it to the left side of the card front. Next, cut a 3 x 5-1/2 inch piece of patterned paper, tear the right side of the paper and adhere it to the card front. The focal point on the card is simply a layered poinsettia on a white circle shape. Adding the greeting directly over the layered poinsettia is a great way to tone down the look of large die cut shapes.

Poinsettia Petals Unique Card Idea

The last card idea is simple yet unique. It involves a bit of paper tearing to create a unique look to the card front. Start with a piece of Soft Suede cardstock for your card base. Cut a 3/4 x 5-1/4 inch piece of patterned paper and adhere to the left side of the card front. Next, cut a 1-1/2 x 5-1/4 inch piece of patterned paper and adhere to the card front. Carefully tear the right side of the card front so that you expose the inside of the card. Add a 5-1/4 x 4 inch piece of vanilla cardstock on the inside of the card. Cut a 1-1/2 x 5-1/4 inch piece of patterned paper and adhere it to the right side of the vanilla cardstock (on the inside of the card). Then simply embellish as desired.

These are just a few card ideas featuring the Poinsettia Petals Bundle. There are many many more possibilities! Just get creative with it! I hope you enjoyed these card ideas. Thanks so much for visiting me today. Have a creative day ~ Lynn

  1. I’ve always loved anything poinsettia! Are you using the velvet red ‘paper’ for the flower/eaves itself? If not, what color of red? Tearing sounds easy but I’ve found it to be tricky. If I remember correctly, the direction of tearing changes the result. Do you still use a ruler to guide the tearing process?
    Thank you Diana

    • Hi Diana, I am just using regular cardstock (real red) to create the poinsettias. As far as tearing, I just slowly tear down the paper, no ruler involved. Glad you enjoyed the cards!
