The launch of the new Stampin’ Up! Holiday catalog is next week, August 4th, so I am definitely getting in the holiday spirit! Today want to share some fun card ideas with you featuring some new layering word dies. And I have 4 different ways you can use the layering dies in your card making.
I love the look of layering so when I saw these dies in the new holiday catalog, I knew they were a MUST! They are super easy to use and, of course, there are many different ways that you can use them in your card making.
Speaking of the new holiday catalog, if you are on my mailing list you should have already received it from me. If you have not received a catalog or are currently not working with a demonstrator, I would be happy to send you one. You can request one HERE.
Layering Word Dies and Simple Stamping
The first way to use the layering word dies in your card making are to use all three layers together to create a focal point. The layering dies in the Joy Die set enable you to create three different variations of a particular word. In this case, we will focus on layering the word “BRIGHT.” However, there are two other layering words in this set in which you can create the same effect.
The dies come in three different sizes that can easily be layered together to create this look. The top layer is a very thin cut word. The second layer is a slightly larger version of the word which enables you to add a different color to highlight the smaller die cut word. The third layer is slightly larger than the second one and, again, enables you to add additional colors and dimension to your layers. All of the die cut shapes easily stack together for a fun look! For these two cards, the layering word dies create the focal point of the card and accent the stamping in the background. It’s a quick and simple card idea! Be sure to watch the video for some tips on how to layer the die cuts together.
Creating a Window Card
Besides using the dies to create three different layers, you can also use the largest one to create a window on the card front. I highly recommend you watch the video to set the creation of the window in action!
Creating a window on the front of the card provides you with a variety of different options for decorating it. For this particular card, the Peace and Joy words were stamped directly through the windows on the card front. The cool thing about the Peace & Joy Bundle is that you layer the dies together and/or combine them with stamping. The stamp images in the set coordinate with the dies!
Using Up Scraps
The last two cards feature the leftover pieces from creating the window card above. Basically the die cut pieces of patterned paper are featured on these cards. So these card ideas show you some fun ways to use up scraps! Always look for ways to use your scrap die cut pieces!
The first card features the smallest and largest die cut layered together to create the focal point for the card. The second card features the exactly same layering word dies with the addition of one more large die cut word in the background. These are very quick and simple card ideas and a great way to use up the scraps from creating the window card.
