Card Making is a great way to express your creativity. As such, sometimes there is a thought that card kits do not allow us to express our creative side. Well I am here to tell you that card making kits are a great way to gather inspiration and ideas. So today I am going to show you how the Gorgeous Posies Project Kit inspired me to create 7 more cards.
Gorgeous Posies
So first let’s talk about all of the supplies that come in the Gorgeous Posies card making kit. The kit contains all of the basic supplies that you need to create 16 cards; 4 each of 4 different designs. Card bases, die cuts, twine, ribbon and envelopes are all included in this card making kit.
Since this is a project kit, it is not all inclusive. So that means that you need to supply your own ink colors and stamp set in order to complete the cards. Stampin’ Up! does recommend a stamp set and ink colors. The Gorgeous Posies stamp set is recommended for these cards simply because the sentiments fit perfectly in the die cut labels. However, you really can use any stamp set you have on hand. The colors featured in this kit include Blackberry Bliss, Blushing Bride, Gorgeous Grape and Highland Heather. For the cards I am sharing today, I used all of the recommended colors except Blackberry Bliss.
One of my favorite things about this kit is that all of the card making supplies are packaged up in this beautiful designer gift box. So once you have completed all of the cards in the kit, you can put them right into this box and give them as a gift! Handmade cards make such an awesome gift giving idea.
Monochromatic Card Ideas
Now let’s talk about some of the other cards you can make with leftover materials from the Gorgeous Posies card making kit. I had several flowers, twine and die cut labels leftover which enabled me to make 7 more cards! Simply use your own cardstock and other supplies you have on hand.
The first three cards I have to share with you feature monochromatic card ideas. The colors of the cardstock, ink and designer series paper all feature Highland Heather. Now I did add a little pop of green with the leaves but the general layout and design is monochromatic.
These first two cards feature simple layouts. The white cardstock pieces are 5 x 3-3/4 inches. The first card features a 1 x 5 inch piece of patterned paper on the left side of the white cardstock. The second card features a 2 x 4-1/2 inch piece of patterned paper adhered directly down the middle of the white cardstock. Both cards feature some of the leftover embellishments from the kit.
The last monochromatic card idea features one of my favorite layouts, the torn paper look. Start with a 5 x 3-3/4 inch piece of white cardstock. Cut a 3 x 5 inch piece of patterned paper, tear the right side of the patterned paper and adhere it to the left side of the white cardstock about a quarter inch away from the edge.
Next, cut a 3/4 x 5 inch piece of a different patterned paper and adhere it to the left side of the white cardstock so it overlaps onto the first piece. Now tear the white cardstock about 1/4 – 1/2 inch away from the patterned paper and adhere to the card front. Then simply decorate as desired.
Simple Stamping Card Ideas
Now let’s take a peek at how to create a variety of beautiful cards using simple stamping. The cards feature images from the Gorgeous Posies stamp set and some leftover supplies from the card making kit. Of course, I also added a few of my own supplies.
These first two cards feature the large floral image from the Gorgeous Posies stamp set. You can randomly stamp the image across a 5 x 3-3/4 inch piece of white cardstock as showcased on the first card. Or you can simply create a cluster of stamped images directly in the center of the cardstock. Once you have finished stamping, simply embellish the card with some leftover supplies from the Gorgeous Posies card making kit.
These last two card ideas also feature simple stamping. The card on the left showcases the fun paper tearing technique overlaying some Highland Heather DSP. The second card idea features a cluster of stamped images embellished with some leftover supplies.
Products and Supplies
So there you go! Now you have 7 different card making ideas that you can create with the leftover supplies from the Gorgeous Posies card making kit. This one kit enabled me to create a total of 23 cards! How cool is that?
I hope you enjoyed these card making ideas. And I hope that you will consider playing around with different card making kits. Card making kits are very inspiring. A kit certainly gives you instant gratification but it can also inspire you to create even more beautiful cards. Lynn, what green should I order for the Gorgeous Posies supplies. Thanks, Katie Krause
Hi Katie, The green colors that are featured in the kit are Shaded Spruce, Mint Macaron and Soft Sea Foam. I used only Soft Sea Foam when I put together my cards from the kit and the additional cards that I made. Hope that helps!
