The Peony Garden Suite by Stampin’ Up features a variety of DistInktive images, both, in the designer series paper and the stamp set. So today I have 7 different card making ideas which showcase these gorgeous products from the Peony Garden Suite.
Peony Garden Designer Series Paper
So first let’s talk about the Peony Garden Designer Series Paper (DSP). Besides the gorgeous floral images, the DSP has a variety of subtle designs and colors. Subtle colors such as Basic Gray, Gray Granite, Petal Pink and Whisper White really bring out the beauty in these floral images.
One of my favorite things about the patterned paper is that you can color it! Yes, you can use any coloring tools to add full color or pops of color. Now, this first card features one of the gray and white patterned papers. I simply used Petal Pink and Soft Sea Foam Stampin’ Blends to color in the images on a 3 x 4 inch piece of patterned paper.
Coloring Ideas
Speaking of coloring, there are a variety of different ways that you can add color to these beautiful peonies. My “go to” coloring tools are Stampin’ Blends which are alcohol based markers. These markers make it so easy to color and shade any image. Since these are DistInktive stamps, much of the shading is already done for you so you can just glide the Stampin Blend over the image to add little pops of color.
The second card idea features the use of cardstock to add color. Yes, you can simply stamp the image on colored cardstock. In this case, I stamped the peony image directly on Petal Pink cardstock using Basic Gray ink. That’s it! Then I simply cut out the image with the coordinating die from the set to use as the focal point on the card.

CASEing the Catalog
You might have noticed that there are a variety of different ideas featured throughout the Stampin Up Annual catalog. These ideas are there to inspire us to get creative. I draw a lot of my inspiration simply by paging through the catalog.
The term CASE stands for Copy And Share Everything. Now these cards are not an exact copy of the cards featured in the catalog but they are very similar. I love to take an idea and put my own little spin on it. Sometimes a unique card layout is all that is needed to get the creativity flowing. Did you notice the scalloped edges on these two card designs? These scallops were created with one of the dies from the Peony Bundle.
Simple Card Ideas
The last couple of cards I have to share feature some simple yet beautiful card designs. The first card gives you an idea of how well these colors and images work together. The base of the card features a tone on tone effect. To create this effect, use the same color ink as the color of cardstock. The use of petal pink cardstock, along with the same color ink, gives a subtle look to the background of the card. Adding the basic gray accents really makes the card pop.
The second card features a quick and simple layout. It showcases the beautiful marble style patterned paper and The focal point features one of the new square vellum doilies in the background.
I hope you enjoyed these card ideas and the many awesome products in the Peony Garden Suite. There are so many possibilities with this suite so be sure to check it out HERE. Have a fun and creative day my friends!
