There are so many fun card making tools that sometimes we forget about all of the fun things we can create with just with stamps, ink and paper. Yes, so many simple stamping card making possibilities and, today, I have 4 of them to share with you.
Simple Stamping
So what is simple stamping? Well it really just means that the focus of our card making will be to showcase more of the stamping instead of fancy techniques or tools. Now this doesn’t mean you can’t use other card making tools it just means we want to keep it simple so we can enjoy the beauty of the stamped images. The cards I am sharing today feature the Layered with Kindness stamp set from Stampin’ Up! However, feel free to use any supplies you have on hand.
Now the first two cards I have to share feature some stamping along the edge of the card. The only difference between the two cards is the orientation of the card. One is in landscape style and one was stamped in portrait style. These cards are easy ideas that you can use with any supplies you have on hand. Choose a stamp set and three different colors to use. Randomly stamp the images directly along the edge of the card (the edge that opens). Use larger stamps first and then fill in the space with some of the smaller images. You can stamp a greeting on the card or you can created a little more layered look by using punch shapes.
Tone on Tone
This next card idea features a little tone on tone stamping. This means that I used the exact same color ink as the color of the cardstock. The ink colors (from left to right) are Calypso Coral, Daffodil Delight and Pear Pizzazz.

Now I decided to use up scrap pieces of cardstock. I simply cut the pieces down to 1-1/2 x 3-1/4 inches. Then I randomly stamped a variety of images on each piece of cardstock using the same color ink. Stamping with the same color ink and the color of the cardstock is called Tone on Tone. It gives the images a much more subtle look and is perfect for stamping backgrounds.
Using Up Scraps
The last card idea is similar to the tone on tone idea that I just shared. However, in this case, I used all different color inks to randomly stamp the images across the cardstock pieces. The leaves are stamped with Pear Pizzazz ink. The floral image is stamped with Calypso Coral ink and the small image is stamped with Daffodil Delight.
Now I have a great tip for you on how to keep all of those pieces lined up when stamping across them! Start with a few scrap pieces of paper that are at least 4-1/4 inches long (the width of this card base). Then cut them at various widths using 1/2, 3/4 and 1-1/2 inch widths. Lay the pieces on your crafting table and adhere them, one by one, to each other using washi tape (see pic above). Once you have them secured flip the cardstock over and complete your random stamping. Then go ahead and adhere it to your card front (washi tape side down). It’s a super easy and fun way to use up scraps! For more fun ways to use up scraps, be sure to check out some of my other posts HERE.
