Stampin Up Dressed to Impress – Fussy Cut Embellishments

Hello my Crafty Friends! Today I have a variety of different card ideas to share featuring the Stampin Up Dressed to Impress stamp set. I will also show you how to fussy cut your patterned paper to create some fun embellishments for your cards. The cards feature a variety of products from the Best Dressed Suite. This suite of products are perfect for creating very pretty feminine style cards.

Creating Your Embellishments

Before we talk about the cards, let’s talk a little bit about creating the embellishments. Many of our pattern papers have some fun designs that can actually be cut out and used as embellishments on cards. Now in order to use them as embellishments, you have to cut them out by hand. Yes, with your scissors, not dies. This is called “fussy cutting.” So for today , I will focus on fussy cutting the fun designs in the Best Dressed Designer Series Paper Pack. This DSP has florals on one side and fun little purses, shoes, make up and perfume images on the other side.

I find fussy cutting very relaxing but it’s not for everyone. However, I recommend that you give it a try as it will give you a lot of options for creating embellishments. The first card features a few images that I fussy cut from different DSP in the Best Dressed pack. Start with a 5-1/4 x 4 inch piece of DSP for the background on the card. Using a few layering oval shape dies, cut a piece of silver foil with a regular oval and a piece of blackberry bliss cardstock for the scalloped oval. When you layer them together, it resembles a mirror. Pretty cool, hey? Once you add the mirror, then simply tuck some fussy cut embellishments around it.

Dressed to Impress Card Ideas

The little fussy cut embellishments make it so easy to decorate your cards. The first card features just one floral embellishment while the second card features all fussy cut embellishments. To create the first card, simply start with a piece of purple posy cardstock for the base of the card. Cut a 5-1/4 x 4 inch piece of one of the patterned papers and adhere it to the card front. Stamp a variety of different images from the on a 4 x 4-1/2 inch piece of white cardstock. Once you have finished stamping, tear off the top part of the white cardstock and adhere it to the center of the card front. Add a 1/4 x 4 inch strip of Purple Posy cardstock across the bottom of the white cardstock. For the finish touch, embellish the card with a little fussy cut flower and some sequins.

The second card idea is even easier. Start with a 5-1/4 x 4 inch piece of patterned paper. Adhere the DSP to the front of your white card base. The heart shape in the center of the card was actually created with a little pink heart doily. However, I didn’t use the pink side, I flipped it over and stamped a sentiment on the white side. Pop up the heart doily in the center of the card and then embellish it with some of the fussy cut images!

Make-Up Compact Card Idea

This last card was inspired by Lori Heiling’s card which I saw on Pinterest. Thank you Lori for the fun idea! The card looks like a regular card until you open it up! Inside there is an oval mirror, created with silver foil, and a little eye shadow swatch created with 1 inch squares of cardstock. Such a super cute idea!

Now I made my little eye shadow sparkle! Simply add a bit of wink of stella to the 1 inch colored squares to make them sparkle. There are lots of fun ways to create a little make-up compact card. Just get creative with it!

I hope you enjoyed these fun little card ideas. So take a look at your current paper stash and find some fun little shapes that you can fussy cut and use on cards as embellishments.
