Bridge Fold Card Ideas – Traditional and Pocket Card

We all love a good fun fold, especially when they are quick and easy! So today you will learn how to make a Bridge Fold Card and there are two different ways you can create it!

Bridge Fold Card Ideas - Traditional and Pocket Card

The cards in this week’s video feature a variety of Saleabration products such as the Stampin Up Lovely Lily Pad stamp set, Lily pad dies and the Lily Impressions Designer Series Paper. However, keep in mind that you can use any supplies you have on hand to create these cards. Just get creative with it

Traditional Bridge Fold Card

So these two cards are what I call the “traditional” bridge fold card. You have probably seen the bridge fold before as it’s not a new fun fold card.

This card actually stands up on it’s own. Now that is super cool but you will be even more excited to learn that it folds down and fits nicely into an envelope for mailing.

Now I created mine a little larger than the traditional style. The base of the card measures 5-1/2 x 8 inches and it’s scored at 1-1/4, 2-1/2, 5-1/2, and 6-3/4 inches. So this particular card is not the normal A2 size when closed. If you would like to create an A2 size Bridge Fold, simply cut the base of the card at 4-1/4 x 8 inches. The scoring measurements remain the same. This will ensure that it fits in a regular size envelope.

Creating a Pocket

One of the things you will notice about the traditional bridge fold card is that it is really difficult to write a personalized message inside once you have the bridge section assembled. Well I have a solution for that! These next two cards feature the creation of a little pocket so you can tuck a removable tag in there.

So you will create the traditional bridge fold, the only difference is that you will add a little pocket in the middle section of the base of the card. The middle section is 3 inches wide. To create the pocket, simply cut a 2-3/4 x 3 inch piece of cardstock and adhere it to the bottom of the middle of the card base. You only want to adhere the left, right and bottom part of the little pocket. The top should stay open so that you can create a tag and slide it in there.

Pocket Bridge Fold Card

The tag is simply a 2 x 5 inch piece of white cardstock. You can see there is plenty of room for stamping and for writing a personalized message! How cool is that?
