Today I have two different ways to use the Sending Flowers Die set to create 5 beautiful cards. You will learn how to use the die to create a beautiful silhouette on your cards. Plus, I will share a simple way to cut out the flower section of this die to create even more beautiful cards.

This die set is another one of the Stampin Up Coordination products that came out at the beginning of this month. The dies coordinate with the Sending You Thoughts stamp set which is one of the items you can earn for FREE during Saleabration. However, keep in mind you can use just about any stamp set with these beautiful dies.

There are 5 different dies in this set. However, for the cards I am sharing today we will focus on using the very large floral die in two different ways. You can find more fun card ideas featuring this die set and other coordination products HERE.
Creating a Silhouette
So these first two cards showcase the large floral die cut from a piece of black cardstock. One card showcases the use of the floral die cut from white cardstock and the other with black. I absolutely love the look of the flowers cut from black cardstock. It creates a beautiful silhouette especially with the Peaceful Poppies Designer Series Paper (DSP) in the background.

The cardstock needs to be at least 4 inches wide in order to use this large floral die. So for this particular card, I used a 5-¼ x 4 inch piece of black cardstock. Now that you have the floral design cut into the cardstock you can simply add any 3-¾ x 3-¾ inch piece of patterned paper behind the die cut images. The Peaceful Poppies DSP works perfect for these cards
Black is the color we typically use to create a silhouette; however, you can create this look with any color cardstock. I chose to use black and white cardstock simply because it coordinates with the colors in the Peaceful Poppies Designer Series Paper.

This next card features the floral die cut from some white cardstock. The concept for creating this card is the same as the previous one, we are just decorating it differently. The left side of the card features a 1-¼ x 4 inch piece of green patterned paper. For the finishing touch, embellish the card with a bit of ribbon and some sequins.
Creating a Field of Flowers
So the first two cards I shared featured the use of the full floral die cut image. For these next couple of cards, we are actually just going to use just the flowers, not the full circular die cut shape. To do this, simply use the die to create the large floral design from a piece of white or black cardstock. However, this time we are going to cut away the circular shape, and a few of the flowers on the side. You will have a line of flowers that you can use to decorate your card.
Once you have the line of flowers, cut a 1 inch wide piece of cardstock or patterned paper and adhere it across the bottom of the flowers. The cardstock or patterned paper will cover up the bottom part of the die cut image leaving only the flowers visible.
The other thing you will notice about these cards is the orientation. Yes, you can create them in either portrait or landscape style. Simply changing the orientation of your cards is a great way to change up the look!
