Of course these cards also feature my favorite NEW coordination product called Pleased As Punch Designer Series Paper.
In this week’s video, I have 2 easy fun fold card designs to share. The first card features the basic fun fold concept. The second card is just a modified version of the first one. Both of the cards showcase the Under My Umbrella bundle (stamp set and punch). The Umbrella Builder punch was used to cut out all of the pretty umbrellas for these cards from a piece of the Pleased as Punch Designer Series Paper.
Easy Fun Fold Card Design
This first fun fold card design is what I like to call the “basic” design. It’s the design that will serve as the template for creating the second card. It’s so fun to take a card design and then, with a few modifications, step it up to create a whole new look!
The basic concept of this fun fold card is to create a little “flap” that will actually become the interactive part of the card. It will also hold the focal point for the card front. The flap is actually a piece of cardstock that is cut at 1 x 5-1/2 inches and scored in the middle at 2-3/4 inches. Half of the flap is secured to the inside of the card while the other half of the flap wraps around to the front of the card. The “flap” is the fun fold section of the card. Stepping Up the Fun Fold Card
For this second card idea, I decided to step it up a bit to create a little different look. Now the concept for creating this card is the same as the first one. However, there are just a few slight modifications on this card.
The first modification involves cutting about an inch off of the card front. This exposes the inside of the card which allows me to add a little accent piece. Although the accent piece is on the inside of the card, it is visible on the front of the card too.
The second modification involves the way in which the fun fold card is decorated. When you lift up on the fun fold section of the card (the front panel) it exposes a little hidden section. Now you can add a sentiment to this section or simply decorate it with a little umbrella as pictured below.
We have not even opened up the card completely yet but it’s super cute little surprise under that panel! Now when you completely open up the card, you can see the rain drop pattern paper which is the accent piece that is visible when the card is closed.
