The cards feature products from the new Stampin’ Up! From My Heart suite. The suite includes the Heartfelt stamp set and two layering heart punches. Of course my favorite product in the entire suite are the beautiful heart lace doilies. These doilies come in Real Red and Flirty Flamingo. And they certainly work well with the rest of the products in the suite. You can learn more about this product suite at https://www.stampinup.com/ecweb/products/101021/from-my-heart

Corner Fold

The first fun fold card I want to share is a simple corner fold. There are a variety of different ways you can create the corner fold but this is one of the easiest. Start by creating a standard card base. Cut a 5-1/2 x 8-1/2 inch piece of card stock. Score the 8-1/2 inch side at 4-1/4 inches to create the base of the card.

Next, cut a 5-1/4 x 4 inch piece of one of your favorite patterned papers. In this case, I am using the From My Heart Designer Series Paper but you can use any patterned paper you have on hand. Once you have the patterned paper cut, simply fold back the top right corner. You can fold it back as much or as little as you prefer. Play around with the depth of the fold to create your favorite corner fold. Add a few dimensionals to the back of the corner fold and adhere it down to the patterned paper. The corner fold works well with double sided patterned paper as you are able to showcase both patterns on the card. Create a focal point for the corner fold section of the card by layering the heart doilies and heart punches together.

Z-Fold

Now Z-Fold cards are one of my favorite fun fold cards to make! Just one extra score line and “voila” you have a fun fold card! To create a Z-Fold card, start with a standard card base. The only difference is that you add an extra score line at 2-1/8 inches on the front of the card. So basically you cut a 5-1/2 x 8-1/2 inch piece of card stock. Score the card stock, on the 8-1/2 inch side, at 2-1/8 and 4-1/4 inches.

Fold the card stock in half on the 4-1/4 inch score line. Then fold the card stock on the 2-1/8 inch score line back on top of it’s self. This creates the “flap” on the front of the card. You will also notice that it exposes part of the inside of the card. Now you are ready to decorate it. Cut a 1-7/8 x 5-1/4 inch piece of patterned paper and adhere it to the “flap” on the front of the card. Create a focal point for the front “flap” of the card by layering the heart doilies and heart punches together. Cut a 5-1/4 x 4 inch piece of white card stock for the inside of the card. Decorate the inside with some of the fun stamp images from the Heartfelt set and embellish as desired. You can also change the orientation of the Z-Fold, learn more HERE.

Curtain or Drapery Fold

This next fun fold card idea features a curtain or drapery fold. The concept for creating this fold is similar to the corner fold card. However, instead of folding the patterned paper back from the corner, we will be folding it back from the center. To create this card, start with a standard card base (as shared above).

Cut a 5-1/4 x 4 inch piece of patterned paper. On the 5-1/4 inch side, cut the patterned paper in the middle at 2-7/8 inches. Make about a 2 inch long cut. Take each section of the cut paper and fold it back onto itself. It will resemble a curtain being pulled back. You might notice it resembles a shirt collar in the landscape position and a curtain in the portrait position. Create a focal point for the center of the curtain section of the card by layering the heart doilies and heart punches together. Then embellish as desired.

Double Point Fold

The last fun fold card idea I have to share with you is called a Double Point Fold. Although this is a pretty simple fun fold card, it does require a bit more folding. The base of this card is actually just a 5-1/2 x 4-1/4 inch piece of cardstock. The double point folds make up the card front.

Cut two pieces of patterned paper at 3 x 4 inches. Be sure to watch the direction of your patterned paper as the direction of the pattern on the 4 inch side is the direction that will be featured on the card. Score the pieces on the 3 inch side at 1 inch. Y0u will end up with a 1 x 4 inch section from the score line. Fold the ends towards the score line to create the triangular shape (adhere the ends down to the patterned paper). Cut a 5-1/4 x 4 inch piece of white card stock. Adhere the one inch section of each of the double point folds to the top and bottom of the white card stock (on the 4 inch side). The best way to learn how to create this fun fold is to watch it in action HERE!
