Buckle Fold Card – Come To Gather Suite

Every week my team participates in a little creative challenge. So our challenge for last week involved putting together a buckle fold card. Everyone had so much fun and there were so many awesome ideas that I decided to put together a little video for all of you to show you how to make this fun fold card.

Creating the Folds

Creating a buckle fold card is very similar to the Double Flap Fun Fold cards I shared last week. However, there are a few differences. 

First, we are using a larger piece of card stock to create the “belt” or the second flap on the card. And secondly, we are creating a little closure (or slot) for the belt to fit into. Click HERE to learn more about creating the Double Flap Fun Fold cards.

Creating the Buckle

The buckle is the most important part of this card! It’s the piece that will help keep the card closed. Now one of the fun things about this buckle card is that you have a couple of different options for creating the buckle (or the closure piece). First, you can simply create a focal point like the oval or the square shapes on these cards. The shapes will serve as a nice way to keep the card closed as you can tuck the flap under the shape.

The second way to create a closure for the card is to create a little opening for the belt to slide into. Now I created a little opening, a slot, for the belt using the classic label punch. The shapes I have on the card are simply decorative and designed to hide that little opening. So, in essences, the card does look like a little belt with a buckle. Tutorial & Supplies

The cards in this video feature an autumn theme and some of the fun products from the Stampin’ Up! Come To Gather suite.  However, keep in mind that you can use this fun fold card idea to create cards for any occasion. Simply change out the patterned papers and stamp set.
