Hello Friends! Today I have some quick and simple ornament cards featuring a variety of products from the NEW Brightly Gleaming Suite. One of the things that makes these cards so simple is that we will be using the negative space created from punching out the different ornament shapes.
Using the Negative Space
There are a variety of different ways that you can use the negative space to create some beautiful cards. However, today, I will share a few fun ways to use patterned paper to create some beautiful ornaments.
To create the negative space, with the ornament, cut a 2-3/4 x 4-1/4 inch piece of Night of Navy cardstock. Now I recommend this particular size for two reasons:
- First, you will be able to cut 8 pieces from an 8-1/2 x 11 inch piece of cardstock. Simply cut the cardstock in half at 4-1/4 inches (on the 8-1/2 inch side). You will end up with two 4-1/4 x 11 inch pieces of cardstock. Then cut four 2-3/4 inch pieces from each 4-1/4 x 11 inch piece of cardstock. You can use those pieces to create 8 cards!
- The second reason I recommend this size is that you can easily slide the cardstock all the way into the punch until it touches the bottom of the punch. Plus you will have some extra cardstock sticking out of the top of the punch enabling you to align it before punching out the shape. It will give you a perfect punch every time!
Once you have created the negative space on the cardstock, simply adhere it over the top of a piece of patterned paper with a few dimensionals.
The cards feature the new Brightly Gleaming Designer Series Paper which has some beautiful cooper foil accents as part of the paper design. Night of Navy cardstock was used for the base and accent pieces on both of the cards. The first card features a 5 x 3-3/4 inch piece of patterned paper adhered to the card front. The second card features a 5-1/4 x 4 inch piece of very vanilla cardstock embossed with the NEW Stylish Scroll embossing folder. For this card, simply cut out a 2-1/4 x 3-3/4 inch piece of patterned paper to adhere behind the negative space of the ornament.
Creating the Greeting with Ribbon
Now you might have noticed that there is absolute NO stamping on these cards! It’s not because I didn’t want to stamp, it’s because there is some beautiful new ribbon coming out in the Brightly Gleaming Suite that already has a “Merry Christmas” greeting on it! How cool is that?

Simply adhere the ribbon across the card to create the greeting! The ribbon is already embossed in copper. So pretty! Now the Brightly Gleaming product suite is one of several different fun things coming out in the 2019 Stampin’ Up! catalog which goes live on September 4, 2019! Wahoo! Need a catalog?
