Spread some happiness with a little smile wherever you go. And the June Paper Pumpkin kit it the perfect way to do it! This month’s kit is called A Little Smile and features some fun little cards that are sure to make you and others smile.
The kit was designed to make it easier to spread a bit of kindness and love wherever you go. There is a handy little card holder that comes in the kit so that you can tuck in those little handmade cards and carry them with you. That way you have cards ready to give to anyone. Random acts of kindness are the best! It always feels good to do good.
Watercolor Without Water
My favorite thing about the Paper Pumpkin kits, besides the fun projects, is to play around with the stamp set and any extra materials that are in the kit. I enjoy creating additional cards that compliment the kit projects. And this particular kit, had oodles and oodles of extra materials to play with.
The first set of cards I want to share with you today feature a super simple background technique using markers. But not just any kind of markers, these are Stampin’ Blends. The Stampin’ Blends are alcohol based markers which make it so easy to blend and shade. So you can create simple watercolor background effects without the use of water. Pretty cool, hey?
Now all of the other materials on these cards were actually extra materials from the kit! I simply created a colorful background using the blends and then embellished the card with all of the leftover materials.
The coloring technique can be used to create a colorful watercolor background for any card. These cards feature the light shade of Pool Party and Crumb Cake Stampin’ Blends.
Additional Card Ideas
These last two cards feature some retired paper that I had on hand as well as the rest of the extra supplies from the kit.
So I was going for a little beach scene with these cards. The top of the card is like a sandy beach and the bottom is water. I did a bit of paper tearing, after I sponged some crumb cake ink across the top of the card. The paper tearing was suppose to look like white caps from the waves coming on shore. I probably should have sponged a bit more crumb cake ink on the top of the cards but you get the idea.
