Learn some fun and unique ways to use the images in the Flowering Desert stamp set from Stampin' Up!

Stampin’ Up! Flowering Desert

So the first card features a little desert scene that you can create with the fun images in the Flowering Desert set. Now let me just clarify that I am from Wisconsin so I am not familiar with cacti but I did have fun creating one in my craft room.

Stampin' Up! Flowering Desert

To create this card, start with a piece of white cardstock cut to 5-1/4 x 4 inches. All of your stamping will be on this piece. The colors on this card are Petal Pink, Soft Sea Foam and Crumb Cake ink; although the picture makes the Crumb Cake color seem deeper (like a Soft Suede or Early Espresso). Whatever colors you decide to use, I’m sure it will turn out fabulous!

Alternate Card Ideas with the Flowering Desert

Besides all of the pretty desert scenes you can create with this stamp set, there are some fun alternate ways you can use the images in the set. My mind went right to flowers! Yes, you can create some pretty little flowers with the cacti images in the Flowering Desert set. They make fabulous flower petals, hey?

You can create large or small flower petals with the cacti images in the Flowering Desert set. The first card features the smaller cactus image. Stamp two sets of flowers and cut them out with the Stitched Shapes Framelit or any other fun shape you have. Cut a 1 x 5-1/2 inch piece of your favorite patterned paper and adhere it to the left side of the card. Then simply embellish the patterned paper with the pretty flowers.

The second card features the larger image from the Flowering Desert set. Start with a 5-1/4 x 4 inch piece of white cardstock. Cut two pieces of patterned paper at 1 x 4 inches. I recommend adhering the patterned paper to the top and bottom of the white cardstock before you stamp the flower (I didn’t do that but wish I would have)! This will ensure that your flower stays in between the patterned paper pieces.

Color Combinations

Now you can use any colors to create these pretty flowers. For this card, I used So Saffron and Pumpkin Pie to create the colorful flowers. Now matter which cacti image you use, the large or the small, the concept to create the flowers is the same. Start by stamping the center of the flower first. By stamping the center first, it will serve as a guide for placement of the petals. It makes it so much easier to create the flowers.

I hope you enjoyed these pretty little card ideas! This morning I featured these cards in my Sunday morning Facebook LIVE video. You can catch the replay HERE

Remember, this stamp set is retiring in less than a month so be sure to grab it before it’s gone for good! Hope you have a creative week! ~ Lynn
