Hello Friends! Today I have some beautiful religious Easter cards to share that feature the His Grace stamp set from Stampin’ Up! The set has some beautiful images and sentiments. I knew as soon as I saw this set that it would be perfect for the emboss resist technique.
Emboss Resist Technique
In this card making tutorial, will learn how to use the emboss resist technique to make 3 different religious Easter cards. This technique enables you to add color around an embossed image to accent it. The embossed image will “resist” the ink leaving behind a colorful background behind the white stamped image.
To achieve this effect, we will be embossing white on white and then sponging a bit of color on and around the stamped images. This type of embossing requires the use of a heat tool to set the embossing powder. Watch the video for step by step instructions on how to emboss stamp images https://youtu.be/9AkdmQfLPvs
Tips for Sponging Color
Once the images are heat embossed, you are ready to sponge on the color. The cool thing about the emboss resist technique is that the ink color will not stick to the white embossed image. However, it will stick to the white cardstock around the embossed image allowing you to add color in all the right places.
Open up your ink pad and dab the sponge directly into the ink pad. Grab a scrap piece of paper and practice the sponging technique before you actually sponge the card. You only need a small amount of ink on the sponge so be sure to blot the sponge before applying it to the embossed area.
Use a light swirling motion when you apply the inked sponge to the embossed area. Sponge the ink in and around the embossed white image. Continue to sponge color around the embossed image until you achieve the desired look.
Now keep in mind that you can use the emboss resist technique with any stamp images! So get creative with it! I hope you enjoy the projects and tutorial.
Have a creative week! ~ Lynn
